Season starts in 4 weeks at Fullerton.

Trivia for Terry, who will throw out the first pitch?

I think your spellcheck was thinking of Angie Dickinson, Bobbbbbbbb,

My younger teammates played one year for Garrido. To his credit he stayed in contact with a few of them.

Tweet from Stanford Baseball, and excerpt from referenced Baseball America article:

https://twitter.com/StanfordBSB/status/825047976338821121

Quote:Mark Marquess is trying not to focus on the end, but this season will be his last as Stanford’s head coach.
Marquess, Division I baseball’s second-longest tenured coach after Siena’s Tony Rossi, announced last June that he would retire following the 2017 season. The Cardinal’s mission this spring is to send off “Nine” (Marquess’ uniform number) on top.

Stanford has missed the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years, which Marquess hadn’t done since guiding the Cardinal to regionals for the first time in 1981. This year’s team is set up to end that skid, however.

Thanks for the post.
Hanewich was named one of the top 5 SRs in the draft in a story I saw.    So pitching could be very good.

Might as well keep all preseason baseball stuff on the same thread:

Picked to finish second by conference coaches (from gostanford.com):

Quote:Heading into the final season under legendary head coach Mark Marquess, Stanford was picked to finish second in the 2017 Pac-12 Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll released on Thursday.

Stanford earned two first-place votes and finished just eight points behind Oregon State, which was selected as the conference favorite for the second straight season. Stanford finished with 89 points, ahead of third-place Arizona (78) and Washington (76). UCLA (54) and Utah (49) rounded out the top six, followed by Arizona State, Oregon, Cal, USC and Washington State.

Stanford was ranked in the top 25 in all five preseason baseball polls. Eleven freshmen will join a Stanford squad that returns nearly its entire starting lineup, all of its starting pitching and the majority of its bullpen. Last season on The Farm, the Cardinal finished 31-23 overall -- the 38th winning season in 40 years under Coach Marquess -- and 15-15 in conference play (t-6th in Pac-12).
