MBB tied with 2 minutes left in first half - TreesAndBirds - 01-19-2017

Vs OSU, who is 4-14 this year.

62-46, a sound win over a team that, in spite of the catastrophic course of their year, had put up some home resistance to US¢ and UCLA.  And Humphrey is starting to take off.  However, we have all of the following coming up:  Oregon (home and away), ¢al (home and away), Utah (home and away), Colorado (home and away), @ASU, @Arizona.  And we are bringing eight losses to the base of this tower.

If Haase so much as pushes this thing into the NIT he should receive a laudation worthy of a knight of the Round Table.

Wow, belatedly watched the DVR and am glad I knew the score beforehand! We were down 9 in the first half in a raucous Gill with no Travis! Great job coming back!  8)

Early on, OSU's 3-point shooters were on fire and their defense seemed to have Stanford stymied, as they built up a 9-point lead. I was about to shut it off if the lead got much bigger.

The hot OSU shooting didn't last long, Stanford got their offense going, and the game ended up a decisive win for the good guys.

Travis is expected back soon, maybe Saturday.

At 3-4 in conference, Stanford is currently tied for 6th place in the Pac-12. If Travis can stay healthy, maybe they can surprise a team or two. But even with Travis, finishing 8-10 would be quite the accomplishment for this team.

Still, as ugly as last night's game versus the Beavs was at times, I liked the way the team competed.

A tale of two halves.  Well really the first 16 mins vs the last 24.  The difference was Tree-fense and shot selection.

The Tree-fense stepped it up in the final four minutes of the half and sustained it through most of the second half.  On offense, while still ragged, players stopped trying to be the hero and taking shots outside of their comfort zone and worked together more to find someone a shot in their range.  I will call out Marcus Allen in particular, who has a career 3FG% under 25%.  Haase should put him on the bench if he ever takes another one, wide open or not.
