Random Musings for a Saturday Night, If You Don't Mind - 61_Shasta - 02-04-2017

Hopefully adding enough signal vs. noise to the CB that you don't mind me stopping in.  See you in the fall!

Absolutely you are welcome here, Shasta -- at least in my book. (I don't run the place, but I am one of the, ahem, senior members -- both in years on the board and in years before the board.)

I had to DVR the game and was taking the lack of commentary as a bad sign. Going to savor it later! And you're always welcome here!

  • Hopefully it wasn't expensive bourbon that SUBuddah spit on his keyboard but if it was, I hope he (and other whiskey lovers) takes an extra day or comes in early enough on Friday to do the tasting tour at High West Distillery.  Their American Prairie bourbon is really tasty.

I don't mind the spitting out of bourbon.  Had it been Scotch, well...that really would have been wasteful... :P ;)

We are safe, it was Beam and Coke, had I been sipping my Booker's 100, Blanton's, George T Stagg or Basil Hayden neat, or even my Jack single barrel, I would have been far more upset than amused.  :)

(Thread drift, becoming part of a new thread, ahhh the CardBroad!)

I like drifting.  I've even learned how to throttle steer in my Mini.  But, drifting back, I'm heading to the Bourbon Trail this summer on the way to my wife's family reunion.  I always like Maker's Mark but don't really know much about other brands.  Any suggestions or recommendations on places we shouldn't miss?

Cheers,
Pete F.

I like most broads, but CardBroads are the best broads... :-*

Jack Daniels' distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Great tour but in a dry county (or used to be) so you can't drink or buy any there. Could be new info on that part but the tour itself is worth the stop.

Or, get your butt over to Versailles, Kentucky - Redrum - 02-05-2017

...for Woodford Reserve distillery.  Tour optional, bottle in your inventory, mandatory.  The truth emerged when some fine single malts (some acquired when I worked in Scotland)  went into semi-retirement in favor of the Woodford Reserve.  Really smooth, tasty and not blended.

Go to Frankfort - Mick - 02-05-2017

If you're going to Versailles, you can go to the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery in Frankfort, 15 miles away hard by the Kentucky River.

Also Blanton's is in Lexington.  It's the bourbon that Frank Underwood prefers in House of Cards.
