OT: Kicking Baylor While It's Down - 2006alum - 02-27-2017

Not sure if this was noted elsewhere, but Kim Mulkey's response to the press surrounding Baylor's terrible mishandling of sexual assault allegations was pretty revealing:

Quote:Mulkey said, "If somebody around and they ever say, 'I will never send my daughter to Baylor,' you knock them right in the face."

...and...

Quote:"And I'm tired of hearing it. This is a great institution. The problems we have at Baylor are no different than the problems at any other school in America. Period. Move on, find another story to write."

For the sake of college students everywhere, I sure hope she's wrong.

This was said to the crowd at Sr Day.  Recruiting for her far more important than the safety of women at Baylor

Incredibly tone deaf.  Reason enough to not send your kids to Baylor.

Re: OT: Kicking Baylor While It's Down - FarmBoy - 02-27-2017

It was a too-clever-by-half attempt at PR-voodoo to turn the criticism of Baylor as being an insult to all the women who attend the school.

I guess maybe the Texas Tech coach was wrong when she said she didn't think Kim Mulkey taught that [a punch to the face]:

Kim Mulkey has been a punch in the face to WBB for years.

Interesting that her most famous former player was known to throw some punches...

Further evidence that not only the football team but the entire athletics dept should get the NCAA death penalty.

They're Baptists, right?  Can they not see the idol they've made out of sports?  I'm putting this on the administrators and boosters, not the well-meaning students/faculty/supporters who are silently ashamed of their institution.  They have to clean house.

Still one of the best things to come out of Baylor....

I have a friend who is a Stanford physics PhD who was looking at various places to become a full-time professor, and Baylor was one of them.  One of the parts of their application is asking which church you attend and how you use it to become a good and helpful member of the community, or something along those lines.  I find that an interesting juxtaposition with all of the crap that Baylor is letting run wild on their campus.  Yes, clearly those crazy scientists are their big worry!

FR I have found that to be the case at most of the private religious institutions. Severely limits my potential landing spots if I leave AZ.

The longer I'm on this earth, the less I'm surprised by the mendacious actions of the visibly pious.  I could tell you stories that would bring tears to your eyes.
