David Parry arrested? -
thunder_chik - 02-27-2017
Just watching local news here in AZ. David Parry apparently arrested in Maricopa County on charges of "means of transportation" theft, robbery and resisting arrest with physical force. Unable to find any more details, but the report did id him as a nose tackle for the Colts.

Not much there beyond what you posted (other than the DUI).

After riding in a street legal golf-cart taxi, refused to pay, hit the driver, rode off in the golf-cart, crashed it, and was arrested for DUI. All in Scottsdale, AZ.

Lots of articles about Parry's arrest on the 'net this a.m. So disappointing, as well as a bit bizarre. Colts so far haven't issued any statements...

This report from the SJ Mercury News paints an ugly picture:

Somewhat of an update on Parry at

According to the article, Colts' GM is disappointed, but still reviewing Parry's situation. Interesting comments from Colts fans. Even if he isn't cut, I'm sure he will face discipline from management; could also face suspension/fines by NFL.
Wonder how many Stanford alums in the NFL have ever been arrested or convicted of a felony.

One comment on that article and it's an irrelevant half-baked political opinion. That's our world now, I suppose.

I don't know how many, but I do remember Thomas Keiser's bad behavior that prompted his arrest:

And Eric Abrams (not an NFL player, but prominent), who was ultimately sentenced to prison.
As a disturbing aside, in 2015 his father (Dr. Jeffrey Abrams) was convicted of multiple counts of sexual penetration and battery of unconscious patients and possession of child pornography. Somehow, his 25 year prison sentence was suspended and he served house arrest instead.

Update: IndyStar reports Parry officially charged with two felonies (theft, resisting arrest with physical force), as well as one count of misdemeanor assault. Yikes. Article at

The irony is those golf-cart taxis in Scottsdale are mainly used by tourists too tipsy to drive around Old Town, and elderly folks.
This could be one of those dumb mistakes with very big consequences.

:(
My brother is a public defender in San Diego County. He really liked his job at first, when he represented chiefly misdemeanors, or as he put it "good people on their worst behavior." After he switched to felonies, he thinks of them in court as "bad people on their best behavior."
Hopefully DP is one of the former, and that it was the worst day of his life.

There is a video of David's arrest. If you watch it for even a minute, it is apparent that he was completely ****faced drunk. I don't know anything about David other than the public story of his hard work success at Stanford on the football field. While the alleged conduct that resulted in his arrest was obviously wrong, unless he has some prior criminal history, this looks like a gross overcharge by the prosecutor. Hopefully, he will be able to plead to a lesser misdemeanor.

Maybe if he agrees to go to rehab or enroll in some kind of program for alcohol abuse, he will dodge prison time. It is just fortunate that he only wrecked a golf cart and a fence, instead of seriously hurting someone (or himself).
