Stanford Beach Volleyball - paloalto - 03-05-2017
The Stanford beach team played four matches this weekend and won all four matches. There are five doubles teams for each school in a match. You need to win 3 of the 5 doubles matches. The term "match" can be a little confusing. There are five doubles "matches" and the overall event is usually also called a match.Â
The doubles match count was 16-4 for the weekend. Ironically perhaps, the #1 team of Plummer and Jenna Gray were responsible for 3 of those 4 losses. Plummer was described by Pac-12 announcer Holly McPeak as the second best international beach player in the WORLD for her age group. John Bar, explanation please of what happened this weekend with Plummer/Gray?
Overall the team is much better than last year. The won't beat the top five teams but have a chance against any other team.

Thanks for the post and review. So ironic for Plummer and Gray

Beach team started season 5-0. Today they lost to St Mary's and Kal. In my original post I said the team was much better than last year. I will amend that to slightly better than last year.
The team is primarily composed of indoor players. Jenna Gray who has never played competitive beach VB is on the #1 team. Two of the beach specific recruits weren't able to win a position on the top five teams. Hopefully Stanford will start providing beach scholarships. Without scholarships it will be difficult to recruit any elite beach only prep players.
