Katie Ledecky won her first event (400 Free) by over three seconds.
She is competing in (and favored in) six events: 200, 400, 800 and 1500 Free as well as the 4x100 and 4x200 Free relays.

2/2 as she swims the third leg on the US's win in the 4x100 Free; Simone Manuel swam the anchor leg.

That's a bit of an understatement: I'd say she scorched it! :) (52.14 -- 1.29 seconds faster than she swam the relay anchor in Rio).
(but she lost her 52.70 American 100 free record from Rio to Mallory Comerford's leadoff 52.59)

3/3 for Katie Ledecky, winning the 1500 Free by over 19 seconds.
She now has won 12 world championship gold medals in her career, breaking a tie with Missy Franklin for most ever by a woman swimmer.

Katie Ledecky upset today in the 200 Free, finishing second to Federica Pellegrini. Going into the race Ledecky was 12/12 in world championship finals in her career; she was about two seconds off of her career best time today.

Ledecky was slower than her semifinal time (which she swam less than an hour after she raced the 1500 m final), a time that would have won gold in the final. Seems like the cumulative effect of all the races may be the cause.

Caught Simone's anchor on the mixed medley relay. My new favorite event.
