Rose Bowl -

This season, the Rose Bowl is one of the venues for the CFP semi-finals. In other words, unless we make the CFB, no Rose Bowl for the Cardinal. The other venue for the semi-finals this season is the Sugar Bowl. The final is in Atlanta.Â
The other available New Year's Six bowls are the Orange, Cotton, Fiesta and Peach, although I believe some of these have contractual relationships with various conferences.

PC Goode is correct, the Rose Bowl is a college football playoff game, so the Pac-12 is not guaranteed an in. Same is true with the SEC and the Sugar Bowl. Rose and Sugar Bowls are first round, college championship is the
The Pac 12 commitments, in order, are:
Alamo Bowl vs. #1 Big 12 team.
Holiday Bowl vs. #3 Big Ten team. Can't be Minnesota, Nebraska or Wisconsin (must be 5 diff teams in 6 years)
Foster Farms Bowl vs. #6 Big Ten. Can't be Indiana, Maryland or Nebraska (must be 5 diff teams in 6 years)
Sun Bowl vs. #4 ACC team.
Las Vegas Bowl vs. #1 Mountain West team.
Motel 6 Cactus Bowl vs. #5 Big 12 team. Seriously, the Motel 6 Bowl.

Ever the optimist, I view the Rose Bowl being a cfp playoff site this year as, overall, a positive thing.
On the downside, worst case, it could mean the Pac 12 doesn't get a NY6 bowl game, or, one fewer than it might otherwise get.
However, if a team makes the playoffs with a 1 or 2 seed, it should mean a great homefieldish advantage.
So I look forward to these windows every 3 years. And next year, Levi's gets the championship game. I know, I know, getting ahead of myself. But we can dream for now. 1-0!

If it's the Motel Six Bowl don't worry about a possible power failure, Tom Bodet will leave the light on for us.

While I realize the initial thrust of this topic is putatively the format and logistics of the CFP, I felt moved to issue a precautionary "woofing gods" alert. This discussion treads dangerously close to the sin of getting ahead of ourselves.

Between UW, Stanford, and U$C, I'm not terribly high on the chances of the Pac-12 champion being undefeated at the end of the season. Tough road in a tough conference.

Pac-12 is guaranteed at least one New Year's six bowl slot if not the CFP.
