Former Cardboard Posters that I miss - GoodGrief - 09-09-2017

As I prepare for the game (planning a trip to the Museum next to the Coliseum and then taking Toddler GoodGrief to his first live Stanford football game ever, yeah!), I just had a random thought of former posters that I miss.

Garvin--this is an obvious one. I stopped reading ESPN game recaps because I felt I got much more insight from Garvin's recaps. And his post-game recaps served as a virtual water cooler where we would all post our thoughts on one thread.

Rando90--That guy was a non-alum and had so much love for Stanford. He wanted to transfer to Stanford and said, "I don't want to work at Jack In The Box for the rest of my life." Somebody admonished him against sounding elitist, and he was like, "What are you talking about? I work at Jack In The Box. I don't want to work there for the rest of my life." He was all prepped to take a bus/bus/skateboard from Fresno to the Coliseum and back to catch the game and still make his morning shift. (thank goodness he chose against it because that game wound up being the Triple OT win, which surely would have made him miss his bus or the ending)

Ahh, good folks

I miss Ferrari.  He was a bit edgy, but he was also an athlete who had a well informed opinion on right from wrong vis a vis sports.  What exactly did he do that was so wrong?  I missed it.

I like edgy, but I thought he was smug, especially when he weaved his political views into threads. I believe he was the catalyst for the decision to ban political talk on the board. With Ferrari, it was an accumulation of annoying straws, followed by a big log in which he implied that the Administrator was prejudiced. 1st Amendment doesn't apply for a private club. Oh well.

Re: ferrari, I believe the final straw was a post of his on the heritability of certain traits in African-Americans related to slavery. It was insensitive, and scientifically wrong, and it predictably devolved.

I miss Rando90 and obviously garvin. One name that is going back a while who I miss, was Cal88. I really hated that guy. He was a very dedicated kal partisan, and would come on the board regularly during the Teevens/Harris era to talk sh*t. The reason I miss his posts, is because they really inspired some greatness out of terry, who laid the smack down repeatedly in his typical, reasoned, fact-based style.

I'm not surprised that the Cal fan no longer comes on the board to talk smack.

Conjecture vs Terry's stats is like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

I'd hate to read Terry's stats from last night's game.  I have a feeling they'll make me feel worse...

Well taken, GG, but if you ban people for smugness, there would be none of us left.....
