Love has an off day, with only 198 yards on the ground, but actually catches three passes, two screens and a wheel route.

Cardinal, 31
Utes, 28
We win on a field goal (please, no overtime).
Suggestion:Â Let's see Scarlett AND Love in the backfield together on a few plays, being decoys for each other.

I'm a little worried about this one. It's a game on the road against a team we seem to struggle with who has had an extra week to get healthy and prepare.
JJAW probably not playing doesn't help either. They are also 4-0, although I realize they have not played anyone particularly good.
Anyway in the hope I am pleasantly surprised.

BTW how do they get away with it? I guess it's because of the name of the state.

IIRC it's the same way as FSU: they have permission from the tribe.

What happened the last two times we all predicted wins before playing Utah? Break that cycle and I'll be a believer...well, until we play Ore St. and I once again post my normal " Fear (fill in team name here)" paranoid ravings.

Point spread is Cardinal by 5.5... tight.Â
VOW-Boys:Â 23
U-Boys:Â 17
Altitude makes it tough -- Love won't get 300. But, the OLine is gellin'.
Basically, we gotta keep grinding, avoid 3 and outs, and throw the ball to get the Utes off-balance and tuckered by Q4.Â
I like the depth we have on Defense despite some injuries. Must contain Williams; he scampers well.Â
Anderson does a good job platooning, but we will need a stronger pass rush. More turnovers, Boys.

What an interesting and exciting matchup. I'd be even more excited if I wasn't so nervous. I'm anxious that Utah will be extremely well-prepared, will have some wrinkles to help them put up some points, will be able to limit the run, and Stanford's alternating qb's won't be able to get into a rhythm and then it will be too late. I could easily see Utah with a resounding 27-13 win.
It's a strength vs strength, weakness vs weakness game with Love against their run defense and our defense against a Utah offense.
I gotta believe in Love though, plus we get Herbig back -- he wasn't even in there when Love put up 301.
I think/hope Love (and Gaskins) is exactly the kind of rb who will give them fits. I did see Utah whiff against quickness scampering in the second and third level, and I believe Love is without peer in this aspect, and I think Love has a pullaway speed previously unseen by this defense.
And I gotta hope for some turnovers, luck in overtime, or a big special teams score for
Stanford 30-24
