I don't hate the wildcat in general, but this year's edition has been awful.

Re: New name for the Wildcat - winflop - 10-08-2017

It can be effective if two things are done:
- a speed receiver in motion as a threat to jet sweep
- a passing threat handling the ball

Unfortunately the Shawgren-cat has neither of these, so I call it STUPID

Actually, yesterday's edition had Weddington in motion as a threat to jet sweep.  But the play looked disorganized and poorly timed, and Scarlett didn't look like he was decisive enough when running to make it work.

Shaw uses it to set up his next play...3rd and long.

Re: New name for the Wildcat - terry - 10-08-2017

The wildcat actually has worked OK for us over the years. But I don't understand using the wildcat on 2nd-and-long, as we did last night. I don't think that's the right time to do it.
