With all the hype and anticipation, I'm hoping those who will be watching can give the rest of us both play by play and insightful commentary!

No mention of Mills. Said that they were in competition mode, only mentioning Chryst and Costello. He said there'd be an announcement before the game.
Holder out for the year.

I've never more than now felt an urge to use expletives on the card.board...
Did anybody ask about which DBs will fill in for Holder -- Murphy, Antoine, Eboh, Alexander?

Someone asks about Mills and the scout team player of the week thing, Shaw says he throws a pretty ball and does a good job running the other team's offense, and that he'd run it again this week.
Really wondering what Bob was going on about it now.

Freak injury for Holder. Assume he will seek to gauge NFL interest.

Holder was likely a mid-round pick and was likely to declare this year. I am sure he will investigate it but he would be a riskier pick coming off a knee injury and won't likely be able to work out at full strength ahead of the draft so his projection could slide to late round or undrafted which raises the probability that he comes back next year. Disappointing to him and the team this year, but us Cardinal fans could get the benefit of having him back next year for Stanford. Hopefully he comes back at full strength and plays his way into the early rounds of the 2019 draft.

Were there any details about the injury? ACL? MCL? Dislocation?

Given that today is Halloween, perhaps the more apt parallel is Charlie Brown getting a rock. But Xmas underwear works, too.

Thinking that Mills would be named QB after being injured to start his career and never even getting 1st team reps is overoptimistic fan foolishness.

Well no one was thinking it (as far as I know) until a very plugged-in fan hinted something about it and said to watch the press conference. Without that there wouldn't have been the speculation.

None that I heard, though I didn't get the whole thing. (Though I really doubt it's a dislocation, that's "immediately rush to the hospital" level and we would've heard about it.) My guess is that this means Holder comes back next year, not being able to run at the combine makes you a very, very risky pick.

Holder tweeted about the injury with a reference to his "fifth year":

So it seems at least one more go-around with Holder.

Some additional injury related news:
Terrence Alexander is still out: this is more relevant given Holder's injury
Mustafa Branch is cleared to play

Shaw's justification for playing Chryst the entire game against OSU was based on his performance against Oregon being the best of his career. Who knows if this is the actual reason or not.
Also, the starter will presumably be named before gameday, unless this tweet mangled it:

I was listening live, Shaw's intent was very clearly that the QB would be named before gameday.

I remember Hogan spent his true freshman year running the scout team and therefore (?) wasn't up on our own offense enough to beat out Nunes and Nottingham in training camp. Hope we don't see a repeat of that pattern next year.
I suppose the most likely way we'd avoid it is if Chryst or Costello clearly wins the job next year and plays well enough that Mills isn't yet needed.

So you're saying there's a chance? (of making the RIGHT decision)

Oddly enough I could use some new underwear and hope to receive a few pair.
My wife's annual girls' weekend is this weekend, so this should be my outfit as I watch Stanford grapple with the Cougs. I mean it will be 3:30 a.m.
somewhere.

I was at a big conference and received a free pair of $25 underwear, and they were AWESOME.
