OT: Halloween music -
BostonCard - 10-31-2017
I just pulled the Spotify Halloween music playlist... it had the songs you would expect (Thriller, (Don't) Fear the Reaper, Ghostbusters, Hell's Bells, etc...) One that I hadn't heard before was "Walking with a Ghost", and when I looked it up, it turns out it's a song by Tegan and Sarah, a duo I first learned about in Hulk's 2014 Music thread...

Also, the Crypt Jam, from Tales of the Crypt... a show I still remember fondly from my youth.

Happy Halloween, y'all.

Love the shot! Great family.
As for Tegan and Sara--Everything is Awesome. . . .
Don't forget the Monster Mash, Bad Moon Rising, Moondance, Blue Moon, etc.

Nothing says Halloween to me better than Grim Grinning Ghosts.

Disney has a great compilation of Halloween music that they play during their annual Halloween Parties at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom.

If you like Evanescence, their lead singer, Amy Lee, sang a particularly good cover of Sallys Song, from the Tim Burton movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Many cover that song, but I feel the haunting Evanescence sound is the perfect fit.

Speaking of haunting covers...
Here is Lorde covering
Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwGNPtBX7Nk
I first heard it at my daughters' ballet recital. It was only later that I found out it was (re)made as the theme song for a video game.

Wait, you first learned of the Tears for Fears original version or the Lorde cover at your daughters ballet recital? Or you only later learned the cover was made for Assassins Creed?
Because, if it was the Lorde cover, ballet recitals are different than I thought.

Speaking of daughters....
The youngest (20) recently sent to see Lorde in Glasgow and the oldest (24) is working in the computer games industry Activision/King in Sweden.
And I'm old enough to remember Tears for Fears in the early 80's. Meh.

No, I first heard the original decades ago. I first heard the Lorde version at my daughters ballet recital, where it was the music for some modern/interpretive dance number that the older girls were dancing to. It was only after I got home that I found out it was Lorde (though suspected at the time), and that it was used for Assassins Creed (I dont know if the cover was created for the game or created separately and then used for the game).

Speak of of covers, I kind of liked this one of the Capital Cities Safe and Sound. I believe the original version made it to an old music thread.

Apropos Vampire Weekend, a band who has periodically popped up in threads here (mostly in threads that devolve into the use of Oxford Commas), there was an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association about the band.

Who knew that a blood bank clinical pathologist would be into a band named “Vampire Weekend”.
Happy belated Halloween, all.
