USC reserve lineman - Hurlburt88 - 11-03-2017

Kyle Bonagura reporting that the usc reserve lineman who crushed the WSU student storming the field could face second degree felony charges.  The student apparently suffered a concussion

Here's a story from last month about the incident, which I hadn't heard about until now. Not sure where Bonagura's new report is.

I saw the report on ESPN app on my phone.

I think any link that includes an autosubstituted word needs to be run through a link shortener to work.

This has vid. He should be charged, that kid could have died. It's grainy but he may have hit him with his helmet.

Dabig, how so? The student had no right (given field/court storming rules) to be in the players place of work/engagement. Also, look at the fan that sucker punched a UW player a couple years ago post game. Should the student have been charged. This is, to some extent, sarcasm due to the following.

The bigger issue to me is that WSU players charged for the same thing (concussion and jaw fracture) at a frat party last year were found not culpable, so why does it change for the Pullman DA when it is WSU student assaulted by a non-WSU player on the field of play as opposed to at a frat party? I would be justified if a student ran towards me screaming profanities in my classroom, but not justified if they did it while I was at a party.

Admins, this is not meant as political or inflammatory, rather as a commentary on the double standard in some truly "college" towns. Delete if I have crossed a line.

Re: U$C reserve lineman - dabigv13 - 11-03-2017

It was unprovoked. The kid was no threat to him, and he didn't just run into the kid. Sure, he shouldn't have been on the field but that is a matter for a security guard not a player. Maybe it's a slight mitigating factor in some way but that still looked like assault to me.

I know you have some security background SU and you probably know the laws about this better than I do but that was a morally reprehensible act.

The first angle makes it look pretty bad. Mick's angle makes it look like the USC kid is running off the field and the Wazzu kid runs in front of him and gets pushed to the ground. Concussion? From that hit? One can only hope all WSU kids are that tough tomorrow. Pathetic wimp looking for a settlement.

Can't believe I'm defending a Trojan. Yeesh.

Re: U$C reserve lineman - dabigv13 - 11-03-2017

The second angle is less egregious I agree. Still totally uncalled for though. If the kid has a concussion....

Re: U$C reserve lineman - martyup - 11-04-2017

I just watched it for the first time.  The punk didn't slam his head on the ground and got right up and returned to his post game frivolity.  Total BS.

Re: U$C reserve lineman - dabigv13 - 11-04-2017

I'm still unclear on why this kid is being vilified. What did he do to deserve being thrown on the ground by a much bigger person wearing protective gear who was not threatened in any way? The trojaň is a punk and a sore loser.

I agree, Trojan pushed the kid using his arms.  Kid ran right in front of him while Trojan was jogging off of the field.  Kid shouldn't have been on the field.  Being on the field, he should be looking where he is going.  Trojan is understandably in a bad mood and just trying to get to the locker room.  Football player, on the football field where he is supposed to be amped and agro, just lost, pissed off.  WSU student fortunate to get gentle wake up call.

Re: U$C reserve lineman - Hurlburt88 - 11-04-2017

Looks to me like both are in the wrong . . . kid for stupidly running right in front of an angry athlete twice his size, and the athlete for not maintaining his composure and physically contacting an opposing/negative fan.  Don't know the veracity of the concussion claim, but I do hope that the local PD & DA aren't wasting effort and time if this is the kid trying to make trouble versus letting it go.

Re: U$C reserve lineman - martyup - 11-04-2017

I didnt have a problem with the WSU student until I saw the video.  He clearly was not injured by the encounter.  He was pushed down, falling in his side while bracing the fall with his arms.  His head doesn't slam into the ground.  He gets up, looks back at the SC player, then runs to join the celebration.  IMO he is trying to cash in by faking head trauma.

Dont get me wrong.  I'm no fan of SC thuggery, and I've seen my share.  But, this was a punk Toejam pushing a punk Coug fan.  The Coug fan is making a big deal out of nothing.
