Home/away split -
BostonCard - 11-11-2017
There is obviously a home-field advantage, but I have never seen Stanford have such a pronounced discrepancy between its play at home and its play away.
Home: 4-0
Neutral: 1-0
Away: 2-3
Once cfbstats is updated, I will pull the stats on the offense and defense. But suffice it to say, at home, our offense is one of the best in the country. Away, it is one of the worst. 30 points and 400 yards on the best defense in the country.

406 yards, thank you very much. Stellar. Just stellar.

I still can't figure out how to do big tables with this board software so I won't post the whole breakdown of W's and L's, but I just calculated all seven of Shaw's seasons, and here's how we stand home and away:
Home vs. CA PAC-12 Teams: 10/11 (91%)
Home vs. non-CA PAC-12 Teams: 16/21 (76%)
Home vs. ALL PAC-12 Teams: 26/32 (81%)
Home vs. UND: 3/3 (100%)
Away vs. CA PAC-12 Teams: 8/10 (80%)
Away vs. non-CA PAC-12 Teams: 16/22 (73%)
Away vs. ALL PAC-12 Teams: 24/32 (75%)
Away vs. UND: 1/3 (33%)
Prior to this season, those same stats:
Home vs. CA PAC-12 Teams: 9/10 (90%)
Home vs. non-CA PAC-12 Teams: 13/18 (72%)
Home vs. ALL PAC-12 Teams: 22/28 (79%)
Away vs. CA PAC-12 Teams: 8/9 (89%)
Away vs. non-CA PAC-12 Teams: 14/19 (74%)
Away vs. ALL PAC-12 Teams: 22/28 (79%)
So until this season, we had the exact same win 79% win percentage both home and away. This season, for whatever reason, has really been an outlier in our performance at home vs. away.
The other interesting stat is that we play better away at the other CA schools than other PAC-12 teams. Given similar climates, that isn't surprising. And maybe the recent mediocrity of our friends down south explains most of it.

One of the weirder things about this split is that it's not just us. UW and WSU are both much better and home and much worse on the road this season, as are both of our upcoming opponents. I know this is somewhat typical, there's a reason HFA is a thing, but I didn't think it was normally this stark.

I posted as much a few weeks back.
The differences seem to be much starker on offense.
