What I expect to see from Berkeley - lex24 - 11-18-2017

Defensively, Berkeley is closer in style to WSU than UW. They are not as fast as WSU. And they are more physical than under Dykes (that is not saying much) but they rely more on speed and games. Stunts, blitzes. They will throw a lot of looks at Costello. I suspect there will be some negative plays. But the opportunity for big plays will be there.
They are opportunistic defensively. They have been hurt at times by good running teams. But they are much better against the run then in prior years.
Offensively they have gotten better running the ball as the season progressed. Laird is a good back. North south runner. Gets extra yards. And he is a part of their passing game. If I’m to compare him to a recent Stanford back I’d say Stepfan Taylor. He’s not as good, but like Taylor well rounded and solid.
In short yardage look for Malik McMorris. 5’11 and a biscuit under 300. He can move for a big man. They like to slip him out into the flat as a receiver. It’s worked well.
The passing game is more vertical than under Dykes. Bowers can move a bit. He’s inconsistent. But he has made some big plays and some big time throws.
Obviously they will be sky high. But that rubs off after a few as the game settles in
Key to me- Stanford cannot let Berkeley control the LOS and grind out long sustained drives. And, of course, turnovers.
One last thing -Anderson is a good kicker with a big leg. And he’s hit clutch kicks.

sounds like it should be a close game.

Re: What I expect to see from Berkeley -- Gaping holes - ADPATERSON - 11-18-2017

OBSERVATIONS
After opening 3-0, Kal has lost 5 of 6.  Teams put up major yards on the Bearz
The lone win, a 37-3 drubbing of WAST in Berkeley, came courtesy of SIX TOs by Cougs.  Bad day for Falk.
Since four weeks ago (WAST) they are without all-Pac12 first team LB Devante Downs -- their Okereke.
They will gamble, blitz and try to stop us in the backfield -- I agree, that means breakout 40+yd plays for us.
I expect Love goes for 200+ and 2 or 3 TDs.  Open the game FAKING it to him -- Kal will jump on it.  Throw to the TEs.
Then come back to Love.

We only need to stop three guys:  Laird on the ground, and Wharton and Noa on pass routes. That is their Offense.
This game smells like PartyInTheBackfield every quarter.  Over/under on sacks by Cardinal might be... 7.
Get to Bowers, generate fumbles and picks.  I expect we cover the 14-15 points by half time.  Bearz are outmatched.

Dear woofing gods... ADPATERSON knows not of what he speaks.  He is a FOOL!  Please ignore him.
