Coaching carousel -- Leach going to jump on? - washingtonismoney - 11-22-2017

Bruce Feldman (who's tight with Leach) suggests yes: https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/11/22/coaching-carousel-candidates-chip-kelly-scott-frost

Interesting how many coaches on the “hot seat” are seen as tempting potential hires. Maybe this should give pause to A&M, Arkansas, or other schools considering firing these coaches.

I certainly wouldn’t mind if Leach went elsewhere. Our schedule is tough enough as it is, and about to get tougher if Kelly comes to UCLA.

By the way.  I assume if Scott Frost bolts that he would take his OC with him.  But I wonder what the chances are that Troy Walters would want to come home, if we were to have an OC/WR position open.

Feldman is saying Leach is a candidate at Arkansas: https://twitter.com/brucefeldmancfb/status/934787622693519360

Seems Todd Graham is about to get fired: https://twitter.com/brucefeldmancfb/status/934791918407499777

Surprised; not sure who’s out there (that ASU can hire) who’s better than graham.

They must be smoking peyote out in Tempe, because that's crazy. They finished second in the south, won 3 of their last 4, and rebounded from a 5-7 season last season. Apart from losing to us, ASU also lost to USC and SDS (just like us). Otherwise, they lost by touchdown each at Texas Tech and at UCLA; we had our own close loss at WSU. They also beat Washington, OSU, Oregon, and Utah, like us. Basically, flip our win over them and our seasons would be close to identical.

Todd Graham out. According to this azcentral.com article:

Quote:Possible candidates include Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin, Vanderbilt’s Derek Mason and Michigan assistant head coach Pep Hamilton.

Re: Coaching carousel -- Leach going to jump on? - washingtonismoney - 11-26-2017

Sumlin would be an interesting hire. Mason and Hamilton less so, IMO.

of note: all three of those candidates are black. Pretty rare that you see an all-black cast of rumored candidates.

Re: Coaching carousel -- Leach going to jump on? - ChicagoCard - 11-26-2017

And Doug Haller who is an azcentral ASU beat writer lists those three names along with three others:

Hamilton, Jimmy Lake, Mason, Norvell, Charlie Strong, and Sumlin.

And Wilner's take is interesting, I think.

ASU just fired Grahm:

Is Leach on the hot seat after getting blasted in the Apple cup with the North Title on the line?  Offense looked anemic much of the year.  He needs a new OC😜

Please plus this post.

How about Passing Game Coordinator?  They get to add a new coach, right?

In a post-game interview with the local ABC affiliate, Costello said that he struggled with his passing early in the game but then after talking with Coach Pritchard (who was up in the booth), he was able to correct his reads and got into a groove. Costello will get better with more experience but we will still be a run-first offense - that's Stanford's identity. Not saying the new coach position shouldn't be assigned to the passing game but I trust Shaw to make the best personnel decisions.

You are preaching to the choir. I’m for tweaking.  There is certainly room for improvement. But don’t throw the 73-20 baby out with the bath.

Summon officially out at A&M, could be a possibility for ASU.

Mullen about to be hired at Florida, and Schiano at Tennessee, increases likelihood of Frost going to Nebraska.

I'm OK with hiring Todd Graham as our DC if Lance bolts, allowing 301 yards to Bryce notwithstanding.

Right, especially considering that he was already on the hot seat entering this season his hiring of Bennett showed poor judgment.
