Preliminary line SC (-3) - washingtonismoney - 11-25-2017

I expect SC will be motivated for this game, so sadly we probably won't get complacent/lazy SC.

Re: Preliminary line SC (-3) - winflop - 11-25-2017

Last time we faced motivated U$C we waxed them in the CCG. I love it when we're underdogs.

Quite true. They owned us on both sides of the ball. Our lines got crushed. Hopefully a few things have changed.

On the plus side: we have a new quarterback, their quarterback is struggling, our o-line seems to be more consistent, and we're playing close to home.
On the down side: Love hurts, our defense is in tatters, they've had an extra week to rest.

Not sure if we'll pull off the upset, but if we are as creative on offense as we were in the second half today, I like our chances. I'll take us and the points.

Re: Preliminary line SC (-3) - winflop - 11-26-2017

Both teams have changed in significant ways since September. I expect a close game. Stanford 34, U$C 30

Curious for Little’s status this week.  Alfieri also...seemed to me like that was the same arm he grabbed way back in the rice game.  Also looks like he has been back at OLB for most of the past two weeks versus MLB.  Maybe has something to do with Okereke’s surge

Don't forget that ND waxed SC.  >:(

Over his last seven games Darnold is 147-236 for 2,073 yards (8.8 ypa) with 15 TD and 4 int. So I wouldn't put facing him as one of the pluses. He's playing a lot better than early in the season, and consistently coming up with clutch plays.

We will Brazilian wax them!

I think some folks are focusing on the final score of our first $C game, rather than what actually took place. They played as close to a perfect game as possible and we were right there with them until about the middle of the 3rd quarter, as I recall. Then it all went to hell, of course. But I don't think there's a big gap between the two teams. I hate the fact that we are out two of our linchpin defenders, thought. That's gonna hurt.

Re: Preliminary line SC (-3) - lex24 - 11-26-2017

Defense. Stanford gave up over 600 yards to SC. And they hung for a while – it was 21-17  with a couple minutes left in the first half then SC march down the field and scoredjust before half. Stanford could never really get back in it. They cannot allow SC to go on a long sustained drives again and again and again. And they cannot hang with SC in a high-scoring game. So while the downfield passing game passing game against ND was good to see, figuring  out a way to slow down SC’s offense is the key to me.  Easier said than done.

Does Stanford do anything to get students to the game? Cheapest face value tickets I saw are $59, which isn't too bad, but transportation etc would be a pain if the school wasn't helping.

(Also, I'm really torn up about not going when it's only $59 for seats comparable to mine, I just can't figure out a way to swing it with a little kid.)

I seem to recall that the athletic dept provided buses in past years (don't remember if totally free or a very nominal price). Haven't heard about this year yet.

Darnold had his best rating of the season against us...by a mile, 218.2.  His worst rating came against Washington State (97.3, only time he was under 100) and his second worst rating came against Ca.l (137.2).  He had one game in the 195 range, most of the rest were in the 130s.

Whatever WSU and C.al did against Darnold, we'd better figure it out, pronto.

Very interesting. Thanks.
