Widely reported.

I think you copied the wrong tweet, that one doesn't say anything about Bloomgren.

Congrats to Mike Bloomgren.  I wish him the best of luck at Rice.

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - Langdude - 12-05-2017

Knew he'd go sooner or later. Wonder why it was Rice that enticed him and not another school. No reason he couldn't wait until the right offer came; he's said as much. But perhaps he likes the admin at Rice, or sees himself being able to recruit in Texas.

I do wish him the best. I know there are those on this board who have criticized his playcall suggestions or the fact that he splits his time between OC and OLC. But he has spent nearly a decade at Stanford helping to raise good men of whom we are very proud. We are all indebted.

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - BobK - 12-05-2017

Well since 2011 not quite a decade

Troy did not join Frost and didn’t get the UCF HC job.  Strange but he is available now

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - Hurlburt88 - 12-05-2017

Yes he has, Langdude.  Significant contribution to the program and the people.  And now an opportunity for Shaw to evolve the team.

I like Matt Squeri's take:

And I'd love to see Troy Walters come home.  But someone has suggested it won't happen.

Plus we can hire a 10th assistant in January.  So we have two openings.

The AD at Rice came from Stanford and knows Bloom well.

In fact it looks as though Stanford will be looking essentially for an OC and an offensive line coach in replacing Bloomgren and hiring the 10th assistant, doesn't it?

Matt's thoughts on replacements.

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - needle - 12-05-2017

Bummed that Bloomgren is leaving, but imo it's Lance who is the most valuable assistant heading into 2018 as the offense is stacked with talent (the defense, not so sure about if the departures are as expected).

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - GoodGrief - 12-05-2017

Todd Husak for OC! Or at least some sort of Offense Special Advisor so he can lend his perspective to our team instead of wasting it on the general public.

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - BobK - 12-05-2017

OK so Frost took 7 coaches with him to Nebraska but doesn;'t yet have an OC.  Will that be Troy at Nebraska??

Dalman has his son on the team so can he coach his son?  Plus daughter in the recruiting group

the only UCF assistants not on the list

Troy Walters Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers
Sean Beckton Tight Ends/Recruiting Coordinator

Husak might not want to coach, it's a much more demanding gig than the media.

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - FarmBoy - 12-05-2017

Troy Walters is the interim coach at UCF through the Peach Bowl. Perhaps they're holding off on announcing his move to Nebraska to be discrete until the bowl game is over. Gives him an opportunity to wear the HC hat while secretly having a lock on the Nebraska OC position.

Might UCF retain Walters via promotion?

Josh Heupel was just announced as the new UCF HC.

Re: Bloomgren to Rice? - Spiny_Norman - 12-05-2017

Would we surprised if Shaw promoted Pritchard to OC?  Both Bloomgren and Anderson were internal promotions.
