Top of the 7th, 8-2 Stanford - fullmetal - 06-05-2011

I\'m not able to catch this game on ESPNU, but Stanford is methodically churning out runs every other inning or so.  Danny Sandbrink gave up a run each in both the third and fourth innings, but if the sixth inning was any indication (three up, three down, the last of which was a strikeout), he\'s settled in pretty nicely.  His pitch count is at 92, 62 of which have been strikes (NCAA.com gave me that stat; pretty cool).

ESPNU in HD.  Stanford looks really, really good.  I almost felt sorry for the Illini.

If it was softball the game would have been stopped by the mercy rule.

Off to North Carolina.

Is the game over?  All internet updates seem to have been paused between the 6th and 7th innnings...

It is the middle of the 8th with Stanford leading 12-2

Final score 14-2

I really like espn3.com

In the 4 super regionals on Stanford\'s side of the bracket, there are three Pac-10 teams already in and waiting (including the good guys---without black uniforms by the way).

We aim to please.

And if you have a phone that is fancier than Garvin\'s have a look at the Watch ESPN app. (It had the game also.) This app is restricted based on your television/internet provider, though, so it won\'t work for everyone.

(I did some small part (the login screen) of the Watch ESPN application. And to be clear I am employed by ESPN.)

Wow, great momentum to carry over into the super regional game!

I love that either Dallas Baptist or Oral Roberts will make it out of the Ft. Worth regional--they\'re #3 and #4 regional seeds, respectively.  The #1 and #2 seeds were TCU and Oklahoma.

Texas is facing off against Kent St. in an elimination game with a two-run lead.  They\'re up to bat at the bottom of the sixth now.  (Kent State, wow.)  Princeton, who was the #4 seed in the Austin regional, was beaten by both Texas and Texas State.  The Tigers used to have a RHP from Austin who was in middle school with me.

If kal beats Baylor today in Houston, and if Arizona beats Texas A&M today in College Station, there will be a total of five Pac-10 teams in the super regional round of 16.

Tivo?  What channel was it on?  I could only watch parts on ESPN3 and my firefox kept crashing. :(

Do you know what the reason for the restriction is? Is ESPN trying to collect money from all the internet and/or television providers in return for letting their customers access this? (And is that the story with espn3 too?)

C.a.l did win with an amazing comeback.  And now C.a.l plays Dallas Baptist for the right to get into the CWS.  That sounds like a very good deal to me.  TV revenue and last minute donations save the program, a 4 run bottom of the ninth wins the regional and now a super regional against Dallas Baptist!!

Stanford may have Luck, but C.a.l baseball is lucky.

Cal will host DBU at Santa Clara this weekend.  There were some rumors that they would use Sunken Diamond for the three-game series.  I wonder why they went with Santa Clara instead.

Rather than say what I know, I\'m going to link to public articles that discusses the situation. This is definitely one of those topics where if I said anything publicly it would be a bad thing.

The business case for ESPN3 is very similar to that for Watch ESPN.
