Not really a 2018 opponent, since we don't play them next year, but thought this might be of interest...
Rich Rod let go:

Losing four out of the last five didn't help.

The university is saying this is not about W/L. They are linking it to an investigation into misconduct and Title IX violations.

And supposedly more complicated than that.
The University says that they found the sexual harassment complaints "could not be substantiated", but that "Arizona Athletics did become aware of information, both before and during the investigation, which caused it to be concerned with the direction and climate of the football program."
With no further explanation of what that means.

I think it's like getting Al Capone for tax evasion. I presume this obviates his rather significant buyout? By hook or by crook, baby.

It does not. U of A is paying his buyout, which makes for a clean break.

That surprises me. Terminations for cause usually eliminate the buyout.

I get the sense they don't see clear enough cause for termination that would avoid a lawsuit and drag this out. Clean break. Start over. Go hire Jeff Fisher LOL.

It will be interesting to see where the woman's complaint goes. She did not cooperate with the internal investigation, instead deciding to go through the courts and taking her complaint to the AG. The internal investigation didn't substantitate her complaints, but contra Rich Rod, it didn't refute them either. I suppose if this does go to court, everyone will be subject to depositions under oath, but my suspicion is this will end with a confidential settlement protected heavily by NDA's all around.

The investigation, which concluded on Dec. 28, 2017, found that the original specific harassment allegations against Mr. Rodriguez could not be substantiated based on the evidence and witnesses available to it. However, Arizona Athletics did become aware of information, both before and during the investigation, which caused it to be concerned with the direction and climate of the football program.
No way you fire for cause when your internal investigation shows the claim could not be substantiated. I do find the original specific harassment allegations could not be substantiated phrase interesting. It implies there is more.
I suspect this isnt the last we hear of this. Rich Rod is going to be fighting for his career.

Some details about Rich Rod...
Among others, staffer assigned to keep wife and girlfriend apart on the sidelines. Wonder if that could have affected his focus on the game. And of course great role model for the team.

Another article on this. If even a small fraction of this shit is true I hope RichRod never gets another coaching job. Of course, he will, probably within a few weeks, but I still hope he doesn't.

On the CBS college football show that RR participated in, he projected as pretty low brow; thus, nothing would surprise me with this guy.
And if there is a successful lawsuit, or even a settlement, RR may be done. He's just not that good of a coach to warrant that kind of baggage . . . is he?
In an attempt to be fair, the article quotes from the complainant's allegations, and there are always two sides to any given scenario. In addition, I've read much more "salacious" charges in many a harassment suit. Still . . .

So will UA release their early signees........or are they screwed for signing early and having the coach fired shortly thereafter by an admin that knew there was a problem?
