Marecic had a lot of good plays at LB, but he had a few bad ones as well. I remember his arm tackle attempt against LaMichael James inside the 5-yd line where Marecic was literally the last man between LMJ and the end zone...Marecic was out of position on that one, perhaps understandably so, but that was the first time I recognized that Marecic was not infallible at LB.

I'd describe Marecic as pretty average--very spotty in pass coverage in particular. Replacing Marecic on the defensive side of the ball isn't exactly my biggest worry.

Marecic made Honorable Mention All Pac 10 as a linebacker. I guess the coaches who vote on the All Pac 10 team thought he was OK.

Harbaugh wouldn't have played Marecic if he wasn't good enough. Let's face it, coaches are in it to win it.

Lot's of guys get played who couldn't sniff the NFL. I think Almonds point is that Marecic was/is not anywhere near good enough to play LB in the NFL, but he does look like he could be a good FB. And that's accurate.
