Geez, who do you have to beat around here to get ranked higher than OSU?

I don't follow AP polls as much for WBB as I do for MBB and CFB, but in the latter two, there's a well documented tendency among AP voters to vote from a baseline of the prior week's position and then adjust for the win-loss column. I suspect because we have two more losses than OSU, a lot of voters had trouble putting us ahead, and honestly, not all of them may have even paid attention to the fact that we just beat OSU on their home court.

W-L record is typically the biggest thing for the voters. I doubt if they all know the results of each weekend. Every week, Stanford invariably is the highest-ranked of teams with the same number of losses. Of course, this year no other ranked team has 8 losses yet.

Per NCAA's new RPI (Stanford: #12) and today's Sagarin (#14), the Cardinal have a real chance of making the Top 16, and thus hosting Rounds 1 and 2.

close but no cigar yet. We have to keep playing with the chip on our shoulder, and 17th ranking (NOT 16th as in hosting) should keep us aggressive.

For the longest time, I couldn't figure out how they could ever put ×ÉÉ ahead of Stanford, since 1) they played mostly a cupcake non-conference, and lost to the two ranked teams they played (and in the case of UConn, did much worse than Stanford). And in conference, against same teams, worse or
much worse.

This can be applied to any number of Bare sports teams annually.

Totally agree. I've thought they were overrated all season. I think some of the bias is because Anigwe is such a great player. But one player does not a team make... unless her name is Chiney. ;)

Let's just hope that C.al really is overrated because we have to play them twice and at this point we need to win out to have a chance at hosting. Every time I watch them, however, I don't see how they have won as many games as they have. I'm actually more worried about a crazy upset in the state of Washington in our last week than I am about C.al.
