yelp.  I think 9 points implies we were unanimously picked to finish dead last.

Re: Expectations for the SB team - BobK - 02-05-2018

Last is very appropriate of course.
We start Thursday with two away tournaments
I’m excited.  Great coaching staff.  Any  school in the country would be proud to have this staff

I’m expecting improvements but how much is the question

Keep in mind the Pac 12 is the toughest conference with 4 schools in the top 7 in the country

Re: Expectations for the SB team - Phogge - 02-05-2018

Will there be a special locked and fenced off area for parents?

Old news.  These parents are great.

Re: Expectations for the SB team - d4cohn - 02-05-2018

Coach Allister has worked wonders with less before. The Minnesota team that she inherited had no tradition of winning, very little talent, and was coming off comparable futility under the previous coaching staff. While I am certainly not expecting a 6th or 7th place finish in the Pac, I think Coach Allister is capable of surprising people. A winning record would be a positive first step, but this team and coaching staff is capable of more, as I think we can challenge for, and be in the conversation for, a NCAA tournament berth.

That a way 15.    Our pitching is going to be much better.  We will miss the fabulous Noll in CF but I believe the D will be better also.

I’m excited

And as you more or less acknowledged earlier, our coaching is going to be much MUCH better indeed. I, too, am anticipating overall "improvement but how much is the question."

Happy to be able to say that for the first time in years I am confident that whatever this team has to bring to the field will be brought. And for that reason, when all is said and done, I will be perfectly content with however this season plays out.

Re: Expectations for the SB team - Spiny_Norman - 02-06-2018

Stanford has maintained the practice of having student-athletes call Buck/Cardinal Club donors to thank them for their support. A few weeks ago I had a lovely conversation with sophomore pitcher Kiana Pancino.  We talked a bit about the team (she was very upbeat), but more about campus life and her academic interests. As a result, I'm certainly going to pay more attention to softball than I had previously.
