Baseball at Texas - BobK - 03-09-2018

Stanford up 2-0 top of 4.

Re: Baseball at Texas - BobK - 03-09-2018

Wulff with a 3 run HR.  5-0 Stanford in the 6th

Re: Baseball at Texas - BobK - 03-09-2018

Stanford now 12-2 with today’s 7-1 win over Texas.

Re: Baseball at Texas - JJJ - 03-09-2018

Thanks, BobK. The Texas games are tough for me to follow (how unusual that the Longhorn Network shows up on my ESPN app but when I click on it, it tells me I don't have the right subscription?... ok that was sarcasm).
I'll take 12-2!

Re: Baseball at Texas - BobK - 03-09-2018

I could have watched on my computer it seems but not on tv. Got the same message as you. Same with track so watched track on my computer.  Live stats for baseball

Re: Baseball at Texas - JJJ - 03-10-2018

Can't watch on my laptop either, but we're up 6-3 in the top of the 9th.

ADD: As I typed that, Stowers hit a 3-run dinger to right. 9-3!!!

I lost Live stats early in the 2nd game
I believe you're mixing baseball and softball posts here... but that's cool.  8)
Little shuts the door on the Longhorns and we win 9-3, taking our record to 13-2!

Re: Baseball at Texas - BobK - 03-10-2018

I wondered where it went, deleted.

Stanford BASEBALL pitchers had 13 Ks

Re: Baseball at Texas - Spiny_Norman - 03-11-2018

Stanford up 9-0 top 7th in the concluding game of the series.  Stanford scored 6 runs in the 6th on 4 walks, 2 singles, 2 wild pitches, a passed ball, and a HBP.  Texas did not get their first hit until the 6th. Beck seems very much in control.

Re: Baseball at Texas - JJJ - 03-11-2018

And we win it 11-1 to take our record to 14-2! Successful road trip!
(I'll be happy when they're back playing on PDT.)

Re: Baseball at Texas - fullmetal - 03-14-2018

Weather was great except for Sunday, when we had our tailgate  ::)  The Texas tailgaters who had set up their canopy tents the night before suffered from the wind, which destroyed two of their four 10x10 tents.  The wind gusted up to 25mph at times, and the temperatures had to have been low 60s with a cloudy sky.  The black baseball uniforms were a good look for Stanford, and the mostly-well disciplined Stanford batters really made the Texas pitchers work for their outs.

Beck gave up his first hit when he failed to corral a ball that skipped right past his ankles on its way to the outfield.  He probably would have been left in there if there was a chance of a no-hitter...I think. IIRC, he was pulled after giving up two hits.

It was a joy to watch Stanford win that Sunday game.

Re: Baseball at Texas - Hulk01 - 03-14-2018

fullmetal, might Esquer be nursing Brandon Beck early because Beck was used a reliever last year and isn't accustomed to, and might not be ready for, starter's pitch counts?

Re: Baseball at Texas - fullmetal - 03-14-2018

Entirely possible.  (I could only find pitch counts for the last game--out of four, sigh.)  Brandon Beck threw 77 pitches and was pulled after the first batter he faced in the 7th inning singled.  But seven innings isn't really early, and throwing a two-hitter out of twenty batters faced is a decent day's work (Texas's lone run--unearned--was attributed to Beck, as was Stanford's win).

And maybe the coaches wanted to give some guys a look.  Palisch (FR) threw 11 pitches in 0.1 innings but pulled after walking a man (an error gave Texas runners at second and third bases) and getting an RBI ground out.  Grech (SO) threw 24 pitches in 1.2 innings (3 fly outs, 1 ground out), and Bakst (SO) threw 14 pitches in 1.0 inning for 2 fly outs and a ground out.

There aren't that many four-games series, so who knows what the coaches really intended to do.  All I know for certain is that I'm guardedly optimistic for this postseason already ;)
