WBB State High School Playoffs - BobK - 03-14-2018
Last night In the top, the Open, division, Pinewood with Stanford commit Hannah Jump beat favored St Mary's of Stockton to advance to the NorCal Championship against the nation's top team Mitty with Stanford recruit , we hope, Haley Jones. Game at Santa Clara U at 6 PM Saturday. In SoCal Widward with possible recrut Chrisma Osborne and Coach Vanessa Nyguard is in their finals.  Winners meet in Sacramento Next weekend.
In Division 4 Woodside Priority wn and they play for the NorCal Championship with possible recriut Ida Lane.Â
A note on Jones, this weekend the entire Stanford coaching staff had an in home visit at Haley's home.Â

Is this normal to have the full staff do an in-home visit? Does it indicate anything about our belief on signing her and/or our desire to sign her?

Haley: "The academic side is really important to me because I love being in the classroom."
Coach: "She is a 4.0 student in the classroom.....She has a tremendous work ethic and she is a sponge."
Haley: "My ultimate goal is to go to the WNBA, to go to the Olympics, to major in sports psychology in college, and do something in sports medicine after I am done with my basketball career."

Was at Mitty game. Jones is a glider. Smooth as silk. Basically runs point for Mitty at 61. (Shes long. Looks taller)Â Twisted her ankle early then came back. Controlled the game in second half. Very impressive.
She will be a big time College player.

I should have clarified my question to ask whether the size/composition of who visited would be an indicator in itself of the strength of our desire for her commitment or is it standard to have the whole staff come. But you answered my question with your next sentence.
Haley's comments would indicate that our academic prestige would be a strong selling point. I hope it helps. But wow, that process must be something else to have HoF coaches from legendary, top-tier programs pay so much attention to you as a 17-yr old.

Shockers in the first round of the boys CA State championships. NorCal #1 seed Salesian and CIF South #1 seed Mater Dei knocked off by the 8 seeds thus avoiding a dream matchup in the final that would have had national implications. Bishop ODowd into the Nor Cal final.

Hannah is #24 in green and had a great game. Shes surely one of the tallest players on the team (she tips vs Baylor-commit DeCosta), has a quick release and a bit of range on 3, and the IQ is very obvious. She makes good cuts, is utilized heavily to break the press (never rushed or flustered), and knocks down her free throws. There are plenty of games on YT!
As mentioned shell be playing Haley Jones and Mitty in a rematch for the NorCal finals... that interview posted by 81alum (good find btw) is from 2016 but I hope academics are still a top priority! Geno and co are always tough company to be with.

A little OT, but my senior year high school basketball team was godawful, winning just four games. But three of the wins were over Bishop O'Dowd, Palma and John Paye's Menlo School.

If you go to 34:25 on the video, Pinewood runs a classic Princeton set. Jump backcuts to the basket for a 3 point play. That's a 'Tara jumps out of her seat' kind of play. :)

What a great find! That is fun to see the post pulling her defender out from the block to open the way for Jump's backdoor. I love that stuff.
