...Burns is a long snapper?

I thought it was a typo at first, but if it is, it's the team's typo, because it's right in the official team announcement about Pro Day.  If it's not a typo, then I admire Ryan doing whatever he can to try and make it in the league. I assume he never tried it in college, since we, you know, had guys who did that full-time.

It seems crazy, but size-wise, at least, it's not a non-starter:

* Luke Hughes is the Colts' long snapper, and he is 6'2" and 238.
* Kyle Nelson is the 49ers' long snapper, and he is 6'2" and 240.

Burns is 6'5" and 230. If he can develop his snapping to the point that he's worth keeping on a roster, you all of a sudden have a specialist that you can actually use as an emergency QB. Long snappers *almost* never see the field on offense or defense anyway, even though they nominally have another position aside from LS.  With Burns as your LS, you could decide just to keep two quarterbacks (many teams just keep two anyway, but having a former college QB as an emergency QB is a nice thing).  Especially since you can't rush long snappers head on, why not?

Yeah, I assumed that was the logic. It's not really a path to getting drafted, but it is a path to getting into a camp and maybe onto a roster.

I wonder if that's part of why he stuck around all spring, to hone his snapping.

Re: Stanford pro day - DenverCard - 03-19-2018

Sounds like Eric Cotton must have recovered well from his late season injury.  In seeing the injury and the way he came off the field, I recall being convinced that he had torn his Achilles tendon.  In fact, that observation transformed itself in my head into the belief that my impression had been confirmed in some way.  In short, I was the victim of fake news...perpetrated by myself.

Didn't the players that attended the combine already run the 40?

Meeks didn't; I can't remember about the rest.

He just needs to be careful not to stare down the punter too much.  He needs to check down to other punters if necessary.

More important, he needs to not air-mail his throws so much. ;) Seriously, if he wants to give it a go, why not? Football seems to be important to him, so he should play out the hand and see what happens.

Bright didn't participate at all...was having surgery (thanks to whomever pointed that out to me in some prior thread).
