Can\'t win if you don\'t Play -

On to the finals for Women\'s Tennis.
Stanford beat ND 4-1 in the semis.
Will it be yet another second place finish?
Or will they win the second Stanford NCAA team title of the year?
At least they are good enough to get a chance.

Amazing run, beating #1 Baylor, who had knocked them out for the last two years, I think it was, to reach the semifinals against #5 Notre Dame. And now, #8 Stanford will face #3 Florida, who blanked #4 UNC to earn their finals berth. This team looks like it\'s peaking at just the right time!
(#\'s are tournament seeds, not ranks.)
The year of second place? -

I don\'t want to remember 09/10 as the Year Of Second Place. Â I\'m rooting hard for the Women\'s tennis team to join Men\'s volleyball at the top of the podium!
By the way ..... how\'d UCLA, the team in front of us in terms of overall NCAA titles, do this year? Â I believe they won the Women\'s Gymnastics championship but did they win anything else? Â It would be nice to see the gap shrink.

They lost the doubles point and then crushed USB in the singles.
They play Tuesday for the title and it will be on ESPNU (at 11:00 am Pacific). Florida will be tough and we will need that doubles point.

In the 2008-2009 academic year UCLA won only 1 NCAA team title. Â That title was in women\'s water polo. Â This year UCLA only has that one in gymnastics, but as always softball looms as a possibility. Â I must confess that UCLA does a nice job sorting all of the various title winning teams. Â
UCLA sits at 105. Â Stanford is at 98.
