WWP - MPSF tournament -

Meanwhile, over in the pool at the MPSF championship at Berkeley, the #3 seed Stanford women's water polo team defeated #2 seed C.al 12-9 setting up a re-match vs. #1 U.SC tomorrow for the championship.
Stanford and the T.rojans have played twice already this season with each school winning once. The victor tomorrow probably earns the overall #1 seed at the NCAA tournament with the loser the #2 seed.

Is there a 3rd place match? Is the loser of that match likely out of the NCAA tournament?

Yes, there is a 3rd place match tomorrow at 11 am between UCLA (22-6) and C.al (18-5). They were 1-1 vs. each other during the season. But C.al does have a victory vs. Stanford on its record. UCLA was 0-5 vs. Stanford and U.SC.
Stanford vs. U.SC is scheduled for 12:45 and will not be televised live on P12 Network.

Stanford comes up just short in OT. So, chances are the Cardinal gets the #2 seed in the NCAA tournament and a likely semi-final match against UCB, right?

Probably for the better. As someone noted in a related thread, we've only once won the national championship when we won the MPSF. I'd consider it a jinx if we'd won! Stay hungry, and go get the Toejams in two weeks!
