Time for a new thread after taking 3 of 4 from the Dodgers.
Timely hitting great pitching (yesterday afternoon excluded).
Hunter Strickland is doing great. Right Phogge? ?

You won your bet! Now you just need to collect 2 Faber Dogs from me. ;)

Yep. 2 out of 3 v. San Diego and we have ourselves a .500+ ball club. Longorio seems to have settled in after a difficult start. Next up, get McCutchen going in the right direction. I’m concerned about 2b and how they plan on staying afloat w/o Panik. Tuesday is a big day - is Suarez ready to take a spot in the rotation? It would be great if he demonstrates that his time is now because Holland would be better situated as the long man.

Those promised Faber Dogs are now 10 years old. Time to come through lol

The Dodgers clearly are not the team they were considered to be. Didn't think the Giants would go 6-4 against them in April, and didn't factor in Williamson being called up and producing. But then he was out for the last 4 against them. So the Giants have now won consecutive series against the Angels, Nationals, and Dodgers. Congratulations Bobk. I live in CT, but next time I'm in the Bay Area, will look to make good on our bet!

I think our bet is for the season outsider.

Yer on! Just to be clear, if Giants reach .500 again in 2018, I buy at Sundance.

Thanks, Bobbk, I was really getting tired of looking at that "worse than 2017" thread. It is amazing that one can feel optimistic about
a 14-14 team record but the scuttlebutt seemed to be keep a .500 record going until Bum returned and there might a chance for the season.

After 28 games last year, the Giants were 10-18. SFSG.

Well Bobbbbbbb, he still scares the scat out of me but his command has improved. No faith in Law, Holland and Crawford. Love Tomlinson in a reserve role but this team will miss Panik. Sad to see Pence on his last legs. Perhaps they can make him Lou Seal the Second.

Gearrin is one who scares me. When he first came up he had pretty good command but it's hard to have confidence in him now. Heck, that goes for the whole bullpen the last few years.

Gearrin thinks too much. Hargrove the Second.

I don’t know how to reply to a specific post. But Phogge, Crawford is valuable for his glove alone. He will come around a bit with his bat. But I’d pay just to watch him play short. He saved a run and perhaps a big inning with a diving catch of a line drive then doubled the runner from second with a throw while on the ground.
Gorkys. Why. He’s reverting back to the .225 no power hitter that he is. Rather see Slater

Crawford is an old 31. Slow bat, needs to alter his swing but these kids today are too stubborn. I prefer the Bill Walsh approach in trading before it’s too late. There is no sentimentality in business.

You're both right. Anything offensively from Crawford is a bonus -- but he really stinks at the plate this year and is below the Mendoza Line. He seems to be both overswinging and behind the ball at the same time. For all the crap I give Belt, at least he's made some adjustments at the plate this year (mainly with his hands).
Crawford is 4 for 35 with 1 RBI and 11 whiffs in the last 10 games. He and Jackson are tied for the club lead with 28 whiffs. At least Crawford got his whiffs in 89 ABs while Jackson got there in only 70 ABs. Tomlinson is starting tonight at short.

Crawford has a full no trade clause in his contract (thru 2021).

By 2021 Crawford will be in a bed at Laguna Honda.

Back at 500 and Cueto out maybe for awhile.
RE: Giants at 500 -

I like Cueto and Shark -- they are real competitors. Only difference IMHO is Cueto has way more talent, but Shark gets the most out of what he has.
McCutchen hit the ball hard every time up last night. Maybe he's starting to come around. At least Longoria is good for the occasional long ball.
But Phogge is right that they will miss Panik the most -- out 6 weeks.
I'm waiting for them to make Panda the closer, LOL.
