A USC gynecologist is accused by at least six women of sexual assault (with a bunch more coming forward once the LA Times broke the story). Moreover, USC is accused of shielding him. Now 200 professors have demanded the resignation of USC president Max Nikias.
This is not good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they've had a number of weird scandals recently, right? Wasn't there a thing with their dean doing drugs with teenagers back in 2016?

Yes. In the last two years the dean of their Medical School was quietly ushered out and then it was later revealed he was doing drugs with prostitutes in hotel rooms, including one who OD'd and had to go to the ER, and there were allegations he did drugs and/or drank excessively both during university functions and while treating patients, that this was known and reported, and that admins looked the other way because he was a prolific fundraiser.
When he was finally canned, it was revealed that his replacement had a history of sexual assault allegations in his past *at USC*, including a settlement the university made to a former colleague. This was of course known by the University at the time they hired him but they went ahead and hired him anyway. When they was revealed, he was also sent packing. Both of those stories are discussed in this article:
http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-usc-scandals-20180520-story.html
And don't forget about Sarkisian, whom they hired with full knowledge from UW officials that he had an active drinking problem.
To me, the worst part about the latest story is that the gynecologist was paid off by USC and left quietly and USC did not bother to report the many accusations to either the authorities or the state medical board, which means he could easily go on and keep doing it to patients elsewhere. And, by the way, this was the OBGYN at the school's undergraduate health clinic, so most of the victims are USC's own 18-22-year-old students.

Not a recent story, but USC also was accused of over-stating its faculty membership in prestigious national organizations to improve its national ranking.

Another LA Times story indicates 200+ complaints about him by former patients have been received
http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-usc-doctor-firings-20180518-story.html
If the allegations are true, I hope the doctor doesn't fare as well as the former AD in Kentucky, in what could be described as "Big bucks for the claim the buck didn't stop there"
http://www.kentuckynewera.com/sports/ncaa/article_edc41403-cd8b-5719-ad50-ec244394a9b0.html
Quote:Louisville reached a $4.5 million settlement with former athletic director Tom Jurich, who was fired in the wake of a national federal corruption investigation of college basketball. ... He'll also receive another $2.6 million in accrued employment benefits, along with home game tickets and parking for Louisville football and basketball for 20 years. ... Trustees voted 10-3 to fire Jurich, two days after the ULAA unanimously fired Hall of Fame men's basketball coach Rick Pitino. ... Pitino has filed a $38.7 million federal lawsuit against Louisville, alleging breach of contract.
2006Alum mentions Sarkisian, but USC was also in the
same basketball scandal
(Louisville also suffered from the scandal (which Pitino survived) of a staffer hiring women for basketball players and recruits a year or so before the FBI investigation.)

Michigan state recently reached a $500 million settlement with 332 victims of Larry Nassar. If you apply that as a benchmark, a similar settlement (in terms of $/victim) could cost USC $300 million, more if/when more victims come forward.

USC certainly has some good, smart people, but my gawd does that place have a culture of corruption, rule breaking, and dishonesty. We are all familiar with their cheating in Baseball, Football, and Men's Basketball, but even their Olympic sports have been pinched too. The school has taken several steps to artificially inflate its academic prestige with foreign student enrollments and embellishing the credentials of faculty. It has the Medical School Dean episode, and now this student health center Gynecologist scandal.
It can rightfully be called University of Scandal & Corruption, or it could simplify and re-brand itself Trump University.

Mods... this may be a good candidate for autocorrect for USC.

Wow, WIM, thanks for sharing - that LA Times editorial is pretty hard to argue against. When you see it all in one place, it's impossible to think anything other than that the folks at the top just wanted to cover it all up.
This is Lawyering 101 but it bears repeating for everyone else too: the coverup is often worse than the crime. When it doubt, disclose, disclose, disclose...
And yes, Bos, +1 on that autocorrect!

The real problem here is that, at least given what we know now, the administration was not in doubt. They decided to do what it took to bury this problem. Makes one wonder what else is lurking in the wings that probably will never be disclosed.

Please no. The autocorrect is annoying, at best.
