While we slept, football recruits got a promotion - Redrum - 05-21-2010

Add two more four-stars (for total of 5) to Stanford\'s recruits.  No new recruits,  just Scout upgrading the ratings for Norco, CA  RB Kelsey Young  and Dallas, TX  WR TytheguywhoISN\'Thisroyalungratefulness Montgomery.   This means Scout ranks them among the top 300 HS football players in the country.  They join 4-star RB Amir Carlisle, QB Evan Crower and OL  Brendon Austin.

Also, our latest recruit,  Safety Shutang Mungwa went from no rating at all to a three star.  Previously he had offers from Syracuse and Louisville,  so an optimistic conclusion would be that nowadays a Stanford offer actually means something (is a quality offer from a staff that knows talent).   One can get tied up too much in star ratings, but its a good thing that outsiders are beginning to consider a Stanford offer confers the prestige of the program in a good way.

And, speaking of offers...old timers will LOVE this.   Our latest WR offer is to Bryce Treggs.   Yep,  you know who his daddy is.  Maybe we just heard Brian Treggs wrong and what he really said was that if Kal lost Big Game, one of his kids would move to Palo Alto someday.  As it is,  Brian Treggs did visit w/ his son, though.  Don\'t hold your breath on this one.  It\'s early and Kal has not offered as of yet.   Right now Stanford and ASU are his offers.

Don\'t you guys know what will happen if Bryce Treggs comes to Stanford?  Brian Treggs will be on the Farm every weekends, and we will beat kal.  It\'s a sick kind of karma.

Not the Treggs thing.  READ THE ENTIRE GAME ACCOUNT linked above.   You lucky, lucky bastards.   That Big Game starring the running of Tommy Vardell was --until last season--the most profound bludgeoning of an  hated opponent in the history of Stanford football.  Kal was ranked #6 in the country at the time.  A game worthy of the word "awesome".  At the end we were pretty much able to do whatever we wanted to do.  They simply were too physically beaten to stop us. Just the best....Until Gerhart & company\'s 55 -21 pillaging of USC last year.   And you guys got to see it.  Now you know what we saw and how we felt in 1991.

I was there.   I rushed the field.  I faced down one of the drunk Kal students that broke through the infinitely permeable yellow-jacket security line.   That game was a miracle, a legit last second win.
But it wasn\'t the same thing as \'91.   I didn\'t want just a last second win over Kal.   I wanted us to grind their asses into peanut butter.  Which we did.  Half the Kal linemen trying to stop Vardell on his last TD run fell down out of sheer exhaustion, it seemed.   Two pretty good years for watching Stanford football. ;D

I meant to say that we won\'t beat kal -- due to Treggs\' presence.  That\'s the sick part of karma.

Don\'t think you\'ll have to worry about that bad karma, Yvonne.  If Treggs the Younger ends up on the Farm, then I\'ll be shocked.  [And ftr, think he\'ll be a damn good college player].

You gotta admit - a Treggs at Stanford would be a great storyline though!  

If the kid has the personality to pull it off and walk the delicate line of paternal loyalty and school spirit, with some humor thrown in, he would be a above-the-fold, headline story for his four years on the Farm.
