The Scientology Network? -

Seriously?!? I can get the Scientology Network on DirecTV but I can't get the Pac-12 Network. Will this ever get fixed?
I guess L Ron Hubbard and the Scientology folks are much more interested in increasing their fan and recruiting base than the Larry Scott and the Pac-12 are in increasing theirs. . . .

I imagine the new Scientology network charges little or no carriage fees. I think I remember that the BYU channel is offered for free to TV carriers. Should the PAC-12 do the same?

Of course, The Scientology Network probably is getting a couple pennies per subscriber. The Pac-12 wouldn't take less than what $.50/mo per subscriber? I forget the specifics of the numbers bandied about with the Pac-12 and DirecTV, but the gist is the Pac-12 wouldn't take what DirecTV offered, so Scott took his ball and went home. This was dumb, for reasons that don't need to be articulated.
Contrast to Formula One (F1), which is now being carried on ESPN/ABC. Would you believe F1 didn't charge ESPN for its rights? Yes, ESPN got F1 for FREE. I'm not saying Scott should give away the conference for free. I am saying that he should have been willing to take less to get on DirecTV for the exact reason F1 gave away its U.S. rights to Mickey, namely to increase exposure and build an audience.
Speaking of F1, are there any F1 fans here?

I remember that DirecTV's original offer was to not carry the Pac-12 Network at all, at least not 24/7. Instead, they offered to carry just its football games as pay-per-view events.

Get sling. $20 per month, another $5 for all the sports channels including all the ESPNs and PAC-12 network and all the regional versions to boot. And for another $5, you can DVR anything. $30 per month and I can record just about all of our men's and women's basketball games during the season, then switch it off for the summer.
Then again, I'm a cord-cutting millennial who's apparently ruining everything.

Sling was such a nice find. And when I cancelled after basketball season was over, they had the friendliest "okay, we hope to see you again!" that definitely made me want to sign up again. And it all took place online, and didn't need to call some customer service center and wait through tons of awful "we care about you"s just to cancel.

Well, cardcrimson has made my day -------I can now get Scientology and will not have to mourn over the inability to pull
in the Pac12 network and Stanford football.
Actually, I have used Sling the last few years when the Cardinal are not on Direct and , as indicated, super easy to use and cancel.
