Andrew Luck Watch -

For those of you who have been following the Andrew Luck Shoulder Saga with bated breath, there's good news:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24151066/indianapolis-colts-quarterback-andrew-luck-good-go-training-camp
A few thoughts:
1) I'll believe it when I see it
2) It's anyone's guess how good he'll be after being away from the game for over a year (well, not totally away, but certainly not playing game speed)
3) I so want him to return to his peak performance and make a run at the play offs. Maybe not this year, but it would be great to see all that talent and promise fulfilled.
If they string up the old front office management... - Redrum - 07-20-2018
Use the previous management bods as blocking dummies, it can't help but improve OL protection for Luck. Playoffs? Maybe if they shower in water brought over from Lourdes. I just hope they can continue an upward trajectory that might pay off for Luck while he can still play.

Projecting the Colts to be two games
worse than last year with a healthy Andrew Luck and a much-improved offensive line borders on trolling. I can get behind pessimistic projections if you don't think he's healthy, or optimistic ones if you think he's back, but "hey, Luck's back, so they'll be
worse" just does not compute.

There's actually a bit of an internet pissing match between that guy and
https://twitter.com/FauxAndyLuck/status/1020381388506370048. The FauxAndyLuck character claims that he created the meme and this other guy stole it. Kind of crazy that the market for fake Civil War Andrew Luck quotes is big enough to warrant two accounts.

Colts training camp is 4 days in. Apparently Luck had a pretty rusty first practice, then a decent second one, and today was his third practice (he took Day 3 off) and pretty much lit up the defense (not clear how bad the Colts defense is). At a minimum, it sounds like he's knocking the rust off. Apparently he'll get significant playing time in their first pre-season game in a couple of weeks against the Seahawks.
All the news coming out of camp so far is positive in terms of the arm rehab. The way things were going, with how long it took until he was throwing a tennis ball, let alone "the Duke", I am surprised that he hasn't had a set back and is truly a full participant. I half expected an injury to be announced by now or for him to not be on track to start the season.
Some quick hits indcluded in this thread if you want to read through it.

From some guy on twitter named Zak Keefer "
Worth noting on 22 throws at camp tonight, Andrew Luck had almost as many touchdowns (2) as incompletions (3). For stretches, he was lighting up the defense."

FYI, Keefer is one of the Indianapolis Star's Colts beat writers. If you crave more Luck content, he and Stephen Holder, Bob Kravitz, and Mike Chappell are good follows in the Indy traditional media set. Lots of good blogger follows, too. Here's a list of my favorite Colts Twitter follows:

Best case for Andrew. . . .
How about a trade away from team management?

I've written about this before, but if I were Andrew, I'd be pretty thrilled about the front office change before last season (firing the woeful Ryan Grigson and hiring in-demand Chris Ballard as GM, who has put two pretty darn good drafts together) and the coaching change this past season (firing ultraconservative and imagination-less Chuck Pagano and hiring an aggressive playcaller and former QB in Frank Reich who helped coax a Super Bowl MVP performance out of Nick Foles).
Irsay tends to be too loyal to his people and too slow to recognize that they're not good enough for the job. That's where his faults as an owner lie. But he got there in the end, and with Ballard spending two of the first three picks this year on offensive guards, there's a clear recognition that they needed to do a better job of protecting the franchise's most important player. Plus, Irsay is happy to spend for a winner, so if these Ballard draft picks pan out, I think it's reasonable to expect that they'll spend to keep the core together.
In short, the signs are pointing in a positive direction. The offensive line could actually be a strength for the Colts this year, which is wild to think. What that can do for the running game (they don't have a "bell cow" running back, but they have really nice complementary pieces in Marlon Mack (runs well outside and catches the ball well), Nyheim Hines (small, but crazy fast and shifty), and Jordan Wilkins (a really smooth inside runner)), and in turn, to open up the passing game for Andrew? This will be the best OL he's played behind in the pros. I like the moves at the skill positions, too. You still have T.Y. Hilton and reliable Jack Doyle, and you add a great slot guy in Ryan Grant, an athletic tight end that's a mismatch against linebackers in Eric Ebron, and you get a couple of late-round steals at WR in Clemson's Deon Cain (I'm convinced he's going to be very good) and a small-school speedster in Daurice Fountain, and the makings of a dangerous offense are all there.
The defense still feels a year or two away, but there are some good young pieces in place. I think Andrew was certainly poorly served by the old Grigson-Pagano regime, but I think he's very well-served by the Ballard-Reich regime.

Captain Andrew Luck was struck twice by the Hawks of the Sea on the battlefield last night, but remains unharmed and deeply exuberant. His latest dispatch:
