Yeah, the zone has been legal since...2003 or so? I\'m not sure.

Anyway, the vast majority of teams don\'t play zone, more out of prejudice than any actual basketball-related reason, I think. But you have to just make sure your anchor guy establishes himself outside of the lane every three seconds (assuming he isn\'t guarding anyone at the time--if you\'re within guarding distance of someone, you can camp out in the lane as long as you want.)

Defensive player get 3 seconds to play in the lane (if not near an opponent).

So a zone requires an intricate dance of staying close to an opponent or only spending 2.9 seconds of less in the lane. You can observe the ballet of movement to stay legal to the rules when the Sun\'s play the zone.
