OKAY ! MORE LOVE:
Nice 83 yard drive with good mix of passing, and the finish by Love for the 5yd TD. "LIKE".

Are we loving this offense, or what? AJ to JJ to BLove. Wow! Amazing what just a little play action and/or deception can do to allow Love to break away.
If our offense can keep playing like this, our D can be a little softer than we are used to.

MORE COWBELL, Baby... Fake it to Love; Throw it to the Tight Ends.

Nice first quarter! What was with the USC QB change?

USC's got their back-up QB in, and they are gashing Stanford with the runs. Why doesn't the Stanford D adopt the strategy used against them by SDSU last week? At least until USC is forced to throw?

Daniels hurt his hand and went to the locker room.

Radio: JT Daniels went to locker room for hand injury exam, not a concussion protocol.

I saw Daniels walking into the locker room, best guess is concussion, though folks watching on TV would know better.

Yeah! Got the stop again. Bend don't break.

Two touchdown lead going into halftime.
KJ is 13/16 for 132 yards, 8.3 average, and 1 TD. Nice work.

The story again... is PASSING. Only 40 yards rushing at half; and Costello is a savvy 13 of 17 for 172yds and a TD. Better Defense by mighty Cardinal than advertized. Adebo is the next Richard Sherman at CB. Need to see if Holder is back in 2H. Our LBs playing well.

Any word about Sarell? Looked bad from inside the stadium.

Yeah, other than a couple of nice runs on the first drive, the running game (meaning Love) has been AWOL. JJAW has been fairly quiet, but Costello has done a nice job getting the ball to the other receivers. Defense has done a good job. Given up some yards, but have toughened up when they needed to.

Great first half from the boys. Some thoughts here.
1. First major props to the defense as a whole. Our philosophy has always been "bend don't break," meaning make teams march down the field with short gains. While it can be frustrating to watch the 5 yard runs against 6 in the box, or the easy 6 yard catches against soft coverage, it is awfully hard to string together a drive of 12-15 short gains without getting a missed block for a TFL or sack, a holding penalty, etc that kills the drive. They have prevented any big plays, with the exception of one whiff by Holder tackling has been excellent. They're going to make JT beat them with tough throws and while he has some impressive arm talent, especially for a true freshman, I don't think he's up to it this game. Unfortunately I do think he's going to be a great QB for USC in the future, so lets make sure we beat him now before it gets harder.
2. Individually on defense, it's been noted before, but Adebo is a revelation. He's fast, physical and has great instincts. It should also be noted we've rarely seen Holder, partly because he has safety help on St. Brown, but likely also because he just hasn't given a reason to be targeted. Its a bad sign when you're not hearing an ILBs name making plays, the opposite can be true for a CB. The ILBs have played well, great play by Branch to force a third and long with a key TFL. The pass rush has been somewhat inconsistent, but has generated pressure at key moments including the brobdingnagian strip sack to lead to the 14-0 lead.
3. Offensively, Costello has been lights out. His throws have been accurate (one miss to smith excepted), on time, and the read is always right. It doesn't get discussed enough, but in 1.5 games, I've only seen one bad decision by Costello (forcing the ball to a double covered Parkinson against SDSU). That's extremely impressive. As expected, USC is playing more of a traditional defense with a deep safety over JJAW, but with LBs and one safety strongly playing run. Shaw and Costello are taking what the defense is giving by targeting the tight ends between the LBs and safety rather then force-feeding JJAW. A few quibbles aside, that was a great half of play calling by Shaw. The O-line has been great in pass-blocking, run blocking still a work in progress but not bad. I'd like to see more of Love on 3rd downs, as he showed last week he can handle himself just fine in blitz pickup, and even if its just as a decoy he'll draw a lot more attention then speights.

13 for 16. Awesome! And he has not even been partularly dialed in.
Adebo or Okereke should get game ball at this point.

We had as many penalties in the first 19 minutes as we did against SDSU for the whole game. Hall is having a tough game.
What is going on with Love? Takes a ball two yards deep in the end zone, runs it to the eight?
I guess nothing's wrong with Love....
Delay of game. Sigh. two in a row.
Three guys tackle Irwin. 25 yard out, gone. Now 3rd and 23. No problem, Kaden Smith for 26 yards and a first down.
