"The Stick" - Redrum - 05-26-2010
As Robbie mentioned in the other Tennis Championship thread, Â here is the stick that is worthy of a Harbaugh scholarship offer. Â Just fun to watch.

Wow...that looked like it would have hurt! Â But the joy of winning a national championship surely masked it :)

Has anyone ever fallen on a tennis court? Â That was pretty stupid. Â Tennis courts are made of hard cement. Â You could seriously hurt someone doing that, especially if the person being tackled is tired, caught up in the moments, etc. Â It is easy to fracture or sprain something falling on a tennis court, let along being tackled.

It was fun to watch but every time I see a dogpile like this, I always think of the male volleyball player who, when winning his high school title, was dogpiled and was so hurt that he never could play for Stanford. Â I think his last name was Joyce??? and I am proud that Stanford stood by the scholarship.

The nice part about the coverage was that the commentators quickly referenced Harbaugh. I would bet if that happened five years ago Stanford football, and the Stanford football coach, would simply not have been mentioned.
Not true! Â Not true! - Redrum - 05-27-2010
CNN carried a video of a one of those tall construction cranes collapsing and carrying away a stadium roof under construction in Texas. Â The comentator noted that the last time he\'d seen a stadium collapse like that was Stanford under Wlat Harris. ;D

Pastor, you\'re thinking of Joe Kay. Â His (somewhat out of date) roster link is here:

It appears that he\'s currently in Ecuador, and he\'s listed as c/o \'09. Â

Exactly completely Metalman...I am glad Kay is doing well....thanks for remembering.

One of the good things about working at a sports media company is that you can have a TV turned to any sporting event you want during the day and nobody says boo. But one typically watches with the sound off - so I didn\'t hear the audio until now.
Of course people at work know where my loyalties lie. (I can name the sports allegiances of everyone here - but I cannot name everyone\'s spouse or children.) But at the end of the match there were a handful of people standing around the TV. Seeing that tackle when we didn\'t know it was coming was comedy gold.

I terms of the tackle itself. Â These women are in shape, and they are quick. Â Lindsay is listed at 5\' 8", and she clearly was running at a good clip.
It was probably a good thing that Mallory is 5\' 10" and not a slender fashion model type. Â I think many people, men and women, would have found themselves in a world of hurt after that hit and tackle.
But the entire Burdette family will have that clip forever. Â Mallory could finish with more NCAA team titles than Lindsay, and Erin finished with more too. Â Yet Lindsay will always be able to claim the best championship celebration tackle.

I saw a replay of the USC men\'s tennis victory over Tennessee yesterday for the natl championship. Â What a tame celebration in contrast...
