My son is a shot put and discus thrower, as well as a sprinter. His high school coach believes he could compete as a collegiate decathlete.
I've been trying to find a list of D1 schools with track programs that include a decathlete or two. His athletic performance level is probably not major program level, but a step or two below, such as Ivy League competition.
His GPA is 4.0, SAT score 1350. The SAT score is likely too low for Ivy League admissions.
If anyone here has a suggestion for how I might find potential "good fit" school's for him, any help you can give my family is greatly appreciated.

NCAA site has results from their championship meets. I would look there and cherry pick schools that meet the academic profile your son is looking for.

Good points; you also may want to drill down into conference championships (indoor & outdoor) results to get a better idea of which schools have multiple entries in the multi events, indicating an emphasis on that area. For example, in Pac12 Colorado seems to have an interesting & eclectic group in multis with football & soccer cross overs popping up from time to time.

I always list times as mile or 2 mile. California like most states run 1600 and 3200 but those distances are close enough to the mile and 2 mile
Those would not be college ready 1500 and 3K Times
I hope people here know that Stanford has the best Decathlon athlete in college or maybe one of top 2. Also a very good Frosh hepthaton athlete.
SF card pm me your son’s marks if you want more advice

You might also want to talk to Mick, whose two sons went to Princeton on volleyball scholarships about navigating Ivy League admissions as athletes.

I left a message for you in your inbox regarding Ivy recruiting basics. Feel free to call me directly if you'd like to discuss it further.
Here's last year's Ivy results, which includes all ten decathlon event results. Top score was 7,491 points which would have finished #2 in the Pac-12 last year. Stanford's Harrison Williams won the Pac-12 with 7,925 points. The #7 score in the Ivy league was 6,062 points.
