Andrews night - lex24 - 10-04-2018

38-59 about 350 and 3 TDs. With TEN dropped passes. Including one that flipped in the air for an int.

The Colts suck. And are the walking wounded. And I wish Luck would find a way to get onto a better team.

But he also through 3-4 horrible passes that could have easily been intercepted and sailed/under threw a few others. His return is still in progress.

Amazing statistic: https://twitter.com/FO_ScottKacsmar/status/1048089061569822720

And this this article pretty much sums up the dumpster fire Luck has to deal with

https://www.sbnation.com/2018/10/5/17938978/andrew-luck-indianapolis-colts-patriots-drops-injuries

Some choice quotes:

Quote:By the end of the night, the Colts had seven drops on Luck’s 59 pass attempts. A week ago, five of Luck’s passes were dropped — making it 12 drops in five days. That’s an incredible amount considering Indianapolis finished the 2017 season with 31 drops and the Giants led the league with 45.

Quote:They entered Week 5 with nine players on injured reserve, seven ruled out for Thursday due to injury, and six players listed as questionable. They’re so banged up that two of the six in the questionable group were ruled active against the Patriots, but didn’t dress because the Colts don’t even have 46 healthy players to work with.

Quote:Luck is on pace for 784 pass attempts in 2018 — 57 more than Matthew Stafford’s single-season record

Seriously, Luck is going to continue to get creamed out there as his team continues to fall behind every game and gets no run support. I think there's a >50% chance he'll miss multiple games this season.

Also, at risk for his shoulder falling off from throwing it that much.

Honestly, if I had a guy who is coming off a season where he was on IR the entire time with shoulder surgery, I would try not to tax his shoulder too much.

OK, this is a fascinating analysis:

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2018/untangling-nfl-injury-web

Quote:NFL injuries are complicated and difficult to predict. We've shown that a player's team, coach, and even the stadium he's playing in combine with his own injury proneness and a healthy dose of luck to determine whether he makes it through the week. Hopefully we have also identified some coaches and stadiums that may be worth mirroring to reduce injury risk. After all, the NFL is always more fun with Aaron Rodgers, Allen Robinson, and Deshaun Watson than without them.

Data is from 2012 to 2016, so it excludes Andrew Luck's yearlong injury las year.  But related to this thread, Indianapolis with Chuck Pagano was the highest risk team/coach combo, and Indianapolis has the third highest risk stadium.

Luck is blame in part for his current situation. He shouldn't have signed the extension and gotten the hell out of Indy as quickly as possible. Yes, Irsay could have franchised him - repeatedly - but the more likely outcome would have been a sign & trade. Doubtful any owner wants a disgruntled starting QB.

It's hard to remember a greater talent at the position being wasted so badly.

Plunkett at New England comes to mind.  I’m sure other fan bases have their own stories but I too wonder how my favorite Stanford player would be doing within a more competent organization.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that Luck can follow that path, get out, and win a Super Bowl
