Stanford loses Haskins to Nevada Reno - Redrum - 07-08-2011
They're a little late recruiting him, considering that his eligibility expired in 1998.  Haskins, a linebacker for Stanford was drafted by the NFL Chargers but never played. He was on the Stanford football staff doing video analysis of opponents and breakdowns on Stanford players, but left for a coaching job at Pace University in Long Island, NY. That job ended quickly and somewhat mysteriously after a pretty brief stint. Of the two parties, it appears that Haskins came out of the deal in better shape. Recently he became the chief football analyst for the Rivals Stanford site and gave that site a lot of credibility and insider viewpoint from his connections with the program.  Now he is joining former Stanford LB coach Andy Buh who is the UNR Def. Coord. Great guy. Great STANFORD guy. Worth keeping an eye on.
Not a bad move. Nevada is moving into the Mountain West conference and is coming off wins over Kal and Boise St. Of course, they lost their winning QB Kaepernick to the Niners, but are in Tate Forcier's top 3 transfer possibilities list, so there's that.

What is his new job?
Apparently head of Football Operations - Redrum - 07-09-2011
Dealing with player/personnel side. Making the trains run on time.  Downside, not actually coaching and he knows a lot about football. Upside, a little more stability than the mobile life of an asst. coach. That might be an issue because HC Chris Ault is sort of the Joe Paterno of west coast football and there is no telling how long he and his staff will be together.

Great news for Haskins, bad news for Stanford fans. His analysis of Stanford recruits has been flat-out amazing. His reports always read as if they were coming directly from the coaching staff. I'll miss them.
