Just read an article about the Chicago Bears defense this year and their propensity to generate turnovers. Quote from the head coach: "It's not like our defense comes out here and just gets lucky,” Bears coach Matt Nagy said. “They practice taking the ball away. We preach it. It was great for so many guys on defense to force turnovers today.”
Vic Fangio is Da Bearsss DC.

Yes, he was Harbaugh's last DC, left with him to SF and left SF when Harbaugh was let go. Seems to be pursued by success, though the first years at the Bears must have been lean.

There is definitely a component of luck involved. Recovery of fumbles is a 50/50 proposition. We “forced” two fumbles by Oregon and recovered both of them. Had one of them bounced differently we would have lost. We also forced a fumble by Washington, but they recovered their own ball. Had we fallen on it, we might have won.
There is more luck involved in turnovers than most people think.

While the Bears may have generated the second most turnovers, don't forget to factor in their opponents.
ARI, NYJ (though no TOs), TB, Buff, MIA. (SEA, GB and NE were the other three opponents).
14 turnovers came from 4 of the 5 bottom dwellers.

Point taken but the bigger point is they practice it and it's a point of emphasis for the defense - something also done in the Mason era. Can't remember the last time Anderson talked about turnovers like this.
Da Bearsss haven't been good until this year but that was more about the offense than the defense. Fangio did pretty well with a pretty empty cup. The last two years have seen a resurgence especially this year when they added Mack. We will find out just how good they are a week from Sunday. The game against the Vikings just got flexed into the Sunday night slot - which of course means I will have to listen to Collinsworth, the only NFL broadcaster who makes Joe Schmuck tolerable.
