Don't know what it says that Cal is picking up the guy who was third string at UCLA.  Although Speight looked pretty good against us, both Speight and Thompson-Robinson had pass efficiency ratings comparable to Gabbars, which is to say that I'm not sure that a guy who couldn't beat either of the two is much of an add to Cal's roster.

Doesn't scare me at all. Is he better than Gabbers? Perhaps. But all that means is that if he wins the starting job then Big Game is a 7-10 point win instead of 17. I'm not counting their garbage time TD.

I don't get how anybody should be "scared." I don't think Laz and Larry Butler were scared of Brockington. Stanford most always plays their best when the opponent is just a little bit better.
