SpokaneLee passed on his opportunity to alert us that recruiting TE\'s is not dead yet. Hopkins is yet another one of those TE/DE high school players we\'ve been after the last two years. But he has said he will be playing on the defensive side. Â His offer list should give us confidence: Â UCLA, Oregon, Oregon St., Washington and Wash St. Â Lots of coaches looked at him and liked what they saw.
One strange factoid from the larger picture of recruiting. Right now Stanford has 15 commits: 6 four-star, 9 three-star. At the same time, the historic Penn St. program has one, unrated, commit. hey have done well in the past, but the whole college football recruiting scene is rushing headlong to earlier commits (xref us, for instance). By recent standards, they are starting out in a hole.

16 commits, don\'t forget Olsen who will grayshirt this season and get a scholie, so it goes, for 2011. Â
My guess is 42 commits for 21 spots. Â This is fun.

I wonder if we have some more grayshirt-to-scholarship promises out there that aren\'t public but will affect the number of our recruiting class openings.
