Not a very good showing from our boys tonight, but they did win 3 conference games in a row - a rare occurrence in the previous 10 seasons - and if you'd told me on Wednesday they'd go 1-1 on this road trip I'd have taken it.
2-0 this coming week against the LA schools would be a great way to bounce back!

Thanks to your post, I got curious about just how rare of an occurrence winning 3 conference games in a row has been since the '09-10 season. It happened in:
- '11-12
- '12-13
- '13-14 2x (we made the NCAA tournament and upset Kansas this year; had I only known this was a flash in the pan...)
- '16-17 (Haase year 1)
- '17-18
- '18-19
Considering the 18-game conference season, the fact that we have done this only 7 times TOTAL in the past 10 seasons does make it seem pretty rare indeed.

Women's b-ball: We're going to have a horrid offensive game tonight, shoot abysmally, and generally not show up against a conference opponent.
Men's b-ball: Hold my beer. (Or sports drink, I guess.)

Yep. Now go back to Monty/Trent era and see how OFTEN it happened...

Well there was that one time they won 17 in a row.

I can't believe I actually did, but I did. (Don't tell my boss.)
The only season without at least one 3+ game PAC win streak under Monty/Trent was '91-92, in which we had a disastrous 2-16 conference record.
In 22 seasons, we did it
33 times. And 18 of these were more than 3 games long, something that has never happened under Dawkins/Haase. If we split them into separate 3-game streaks (6 games counts as two 3-game streaks, 9 counts as three, etc.), we go from
33 --> 48.
Now I'm sad.

Well, Kansas was missing Joel Embiid due to injury, and we had a motley crew anchored by Chasson Randle, Dwight Powell, and Josh Huestis, all three of who were arguably NBA-caliber (Huestis was the beneficiary of OKC's drafting strategy). Alas, the magic was not to last.
