Pac-12 hires independent firm to review football officiating process -

The Pac-12 has hired an outside agency to conduct an independent review of its football officiating, a vital step toward restoring credibility in the aftermath of the 2018 scandal in which an untrained official participated in the replay-review process.
The outside agency, Sibson Consulting, is a national firm that has reviewed officiating programs in the NBA and NFL.
Sibson is expected to begin work as soon as next week, according to the Pac-12, with the start of training camp as the targeting completion date. A summary will be made available to the public upon completion.

How dare they question the Pac-12 refs!

If they can actually improve football officiating, can we have them move onto WBB?

WBB officials should be made to read the rule book first. Ugh it’s so terrible

you are making the assumption they can read. I'm not even sure they can see.

I remember back in the 1980-81 season, I was watching SJSU play, and one of the (predictably) male fans was yelling aggressively at the refs, coaches and players the entire game. About midway through the first half, one of the players dribbles the ball back over the half court line, and the fan yells at the ref at the top of his lungs, "that's backcourt, ref! Are you blind? Can't you see? Don't you know the rule book?"
The ref blows the whistle, letting it trail away, walks up to the fan. Takes the whistle out of her mouth. Says to the fan "There is no backcourt in women's basketball. I'm happy to loan you a rule book, because you don't seem to know the rules." Much jeering ensues.

Wasn't clear to me whether the review was only focused on the replay review process that got screwed up with Dixon last year. Needs to be far more comprehensive, looking at everything from training to review to suspension/removal of both on-field and replay booth officials
