This sounds like more fun than the men's bracket.
The women's basketball selection show is Monday March 18, 4:00-5:00 pm Pacific, on ESPN. There's an additional hour on ESPNU at 5:00.

Pac-12 Network follows with a show at 6:00.

Both Gonzaga men's and women's basketball teams were heavily favored and lost in their conference championship finals. Bad omen for Spokane.

I think Quacks and Trees will be 2 seeds in Portland and Chicago. Most think Quacks will be in Portand. I won't be surprised to see Stanford placed in Portland due to P12 championship, and the potential of Boley facing her former team, USB, in Chicago.

If you predict correctly, that would be amusing. In three of the Ducks's losses, she disappeared.

She strikes me as having limited skills (i.e. mainly catch and shoot), pretty good court IQ, but the perfect example of "right time, right place." I don't think she could have picked a better lineup to join. Two very active guards in Cazorla and Ionescu, Hebard dominating the middle and Sabaly at 6-4 able to play both inside and outside.

Boley is 6'2" and not slim. Yet this big girl doesn't like to bang: less that 4 rebs/game, 1 assist/game (Chantal Osafor she ain't), shoots mostly from beyond the arc. Maybe there was a reason she transferred from the McTuffets?

Actually Boley is not big as you describe. And I say no more
Stanford recruited her twice.

It appears that through a major screw up, the women's bracket was prematurely displayed on ESPNU. If accurate, Stanford is a 2 seed vs. UC Davis. Winner gets BYU or Auburn.

UConn really only plays 2-3 tough games a year, usually the last few games in the tourney, and lately vs ND.
If those are the brackets, we seem to have one of the toughest paths, and I would be very happy if we got to the region finals/Elite Eight.
OTOH with Portland the way it is, Oregon is IMHO a very good bet to get to the FF and maybe even has what it takes to go all the way. If they open at 8-1 or longer, I think those odds would be worth taking.
Of course we can dream about Stanford vs Oregon for the championship.

Hmm, I like our matchups: Davis, Auburn, Iowa State, and then Notre Dame. The last one is a doozy, but none of the one seeds are easy matchups, and I like our chances against the Domers better than against Louisville (who thumped us last year) or Baylor (who would be out for some MAJOR revenge). As far as three seeds go, I don't think Iowa State is any stronger than Syracuse, NC State, or Maryland. If anything, I'd least want to face Syracuse or NC State.
And all things considered, I'd take that over UConn's projected route: Towson, Rutgers, Maryland/UCLA/Tennessee, Louisville.

Fans with good memories may remember that Stanford's opener this season was against UC Davis. The Cardinal won 71-43. But both teams have progressed since then.
And don't look past BYU, Auburn's opponent in the 1st round. BYU beat Gonzaga three times this season. We know what happened when Stanford played Gonzaga.

BYU vs Auburn Auburn played tougher schedule; BYU lives and dies by 3. not sure which I prefer

Our draw is decent. I do not like that we play Davis, not because they should be a big problem, but because I always hope to see new teams we do not get to see much. They are supposed to try to avoid repeating match-ups that happened during the season when possible, but I guess geography made this one appealing for the committee. I would hope that if we play well we handle either Auburn or BYU at home. I am not up on Iowa State but from what little I know they are not the sort of team that we tend to struggle most with. Any 1 seed would be tough. We beat ND last time we played them as a 2 to their 1 so if we get there, hey, why not do it again?

Spiny_Norman - 03-18-2019
Stanford ended up playing non-conference games vs. 6 NCAA teams - UC Davis, Florida Gulf Coast, Gonzaga, Baylor, Tennessee, Buffalo. The record - 5-1. Only one of those games was at home. The others were road games or at a neutral site. This team is battle-tested. I hope that they are as rested and healthy as can be.

Agreed all around. This is as fair a bracket as we could expect. Getting to the final four is going to involve a major upset--like last time when we beat Notre Dame. But first we need to avoid upsets for the first three games. Any chance anyone else might knock off Notre Dame before we would match up with them? I have not followed A&M this year....
The Monday game has me worried about attendance. Any ideas about the time? I can't leave work early that day....
