What do we want see in Spring C&W Game (Apr 13)? - ADPinWDC - 04-05-2019

What do we want see in Spring C&W Game? (Apr 13)
1) Unlike last Spring, plenty of QBs available.  More snaps for Davis Mills after KJ shakes out some rust?
2) Who are the 5 O-Line Starters; what is the mix?  Assume W.Little at LT, and Dalman at C.
3) Very eager WRs against Adebo and Eboh.  That is the matchup -- who scores?  Adebo is all-Pac12.
-- Weddington, M.Wilson, O.St.Brown, and the up-and-comers + Parkinson.
4) Assume C.Scarlett is the RB starter with Heimuli at FB.  Who else is progressing?
5) Gimme some Inside Linebacker action with LMFarrar and R.Meizan + the others pressing for time.  OLB looks fine.
6) WhaddaweGonnaDO at Safety ?  Biggest question on the board in my mind.

Whether Shaw liked it or not, we clearly became a PASS more offense with Love hurt.  Look at the yardage, Coach.
And with KJ and a first tier, deep Receiving Corp. we were better at Passing in 2018.
With Mills on deck, and then able slinger Tanner McKee (5star, Centennial Corona) arriving Fall 2020 -- we better be throwing.
And the receiving talent in 2019, and 2020 is rolling in, 4-star PLUS.  Mills & McKee are real draws thru 2023.  Gotta throw.
Oregon is LOADING up at D-Line, led by Thibodeaux -- not going to be able to run on Oregon this season.

Well then how about Fisk at Tackle
Maddox at RB

Not kidding.

LOL on McKee. A kid coming off a two year mission?

I want to see Mills take a couple of hits and see if he is really made of glass.

Considering what seems like half the team is dinged up, I'm honestly surprised we're having one at all. TCU cancelled theirs, and they probably had more bodies available.

I'm sure there will be no contact with the QB's and very quick whistles on plays.

Quote:On the receiving end of those throws this spring, Stanford’s stable of young pass-catchers has also flourished. Sophomore tight end Colby Parkinson, sophomore wide receiver Connor Wedington and freshman wide receiver Michael Wilson are all surging with the reps they are receiving. Their growth is welcome, as we strive to replace the production lost with departed veterans JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Trenton Irwin and Kaden Smith.

On the defensive side of the ball, we feel the void left at inside linebacker by the graduation of Bobby Okereke, Sean Barton and Mustafa Branch. A pleasant development so far this spring has been the progress made by sophomore Curtis Robinson, who has switched to the position from outside linebacker this off-season. Curtis is picking things up nicely and positioning himself to compete for a starting job. Two freshmen showing flashes inside and worth watching are Jacob Mangum-Farrar and Ricky Miezan.

Freshman defensive end Thomas Booker is continuing to impress throughout his first season on The Farm. After he recorded 3.5 sacks and made three starts as a true freshman, Thomas is intensely focused on improving the details of his craft this spring. Another player to watch is junior cornerback J.J. Parson, who is a walk-on making big moves in 2019. He already led all Stanford defensive backs in the winter conditioning competitions, and now J.J. is impressing at both cornerback and nickelback in spring practices.

Interesting...

Has anyone on this board seen any Spring practice and witnessed anything worthy of comment?

Well Fisk wasn’t at OT yesterday at practice so we do have at least 5 healthy linemen

Didn't go to spring practice, but check out the third picture from the recent ILB/DB crawfish boil party:

Coach Hansen is 6'8", and Ricky Miezan right next to him is listed at 6'2" 235-240. Compare these to far right Jacob Mangum-Farrar...dude looks like a tank! I wouldn't be surprised if he's pushing 6'5" 245-250.

Wow, JMF looks more like a DL than a ILB.  Hopefully he has gained or at least not lost any speed.

An ILB rotation of Robinson, Pryts, JMF, and Miezan doesn't sound terrible, given JMF and Miezan have received good reviews from what I gather.

Reports from TOS that Mills is not getting reps in practice. Anybody confirm or deny?

Mills seems fine but I understand Costello and West did the throwing in any scrimmages yesterday.

Shaw has said in the past that they go slow with Mills when he is rehabbing his knee.
This may have been one of the days when they decided to do that.
