Stanford Swimming gets commitment from #6 Lillie Nordmann:

The above article includes a comparison of her current times with those of current Stanford swimmers.  Very impressive.

Geaux Cardinal!

Anyone know if we have a chance at #1 Regan Smith?

I believe she’s visited.

Great get at events of need: her 200 Fr & 100 Fly & Free times should make her an instant option for multiple relays in addition to her potential scoring in her primary events of 100 Fly, 200 Fr, & 200 IM. She may need to beat her sister out for some of those relay spots....

Interesting link off of this article shows Stanford had 3 of the top 6 true freshman scorers in last year's championship meet, including #1 Taylor Ruck. (BobKaaay, what did I tell you.....)

NICE! Alright Bos, you gotta start using your powers more frequently. Who else should we have you ask if we have a chance at? ;D

In the article it mentions Janelle Rudolph as the last remaining top 20 recruit uncommitted.  I believe she has interest in Stanford as well.  Isabel Gormley is just outside the top 20 at 27, but 15 ranked on this site (https://www.collegeswimming.com/recruiting/rankings/2020/F/) and she has visited Stanford as well, but maybe is going to UVA?  Oddly enough I follow this thread for a lot of info (https://bearinsider.com/forums/5/topics/80222/7), not sure if there is a less evil version of it that's also helpful?

RE: 2020 Swimming Recruit #6 Lillie Nordmann - BostonCard - 07-01-2019

By the way, did you see this writeup:

Quote:Smith is currently the fastest 200 yard backstroker in history thanks to a 1:47.16 done at the Cary, North Carolina Sectional Championships in March. She is the 2nd-fastest 100 yard backstroker in history, with a 49.66 from that same meet. Only the defending NCAA Champion, Beata Nelson, has been faster (49.18) and only on one occasion.
...

Quote:Smith will likely enter her freshman season at Stanford as the favorite to win the national title in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes. Her best time in the 100 and 200 fly fly would have both put her 5th at NCAAs in 2019. She will start her career penciled in for a minimum of 50 points at NCAAs for the 3-time defending champion Cardinal.

Stanford had the best freshman backstroker in the country in 2018-2019 as well, in Taylor Ruck,

So, I'm guessing backstroke will be a strength going forward, as we are a good bet to finish 1-2.
