Woo! Wu! - 76lsjumb - 07-17-2019

Brandon Wu just teed off at the Open.  He's had a pretty good couple of weeks [arguably among the best an amateur golfer has had in over fifty years, apparently...]

Finished with a respectable 73 (+2). Tied for 72nd.

Will likely need to do at least one better tomorrow to make the cut. Tees off just after noon local time, 4am Pacific

Alas, it was not meant to be.  A double on #2 and a triple on #11 did him in.  Although he did beat Phil [and David Duval :-) ], so there's that.  And I'll bet he doesn't feel quite as gutted as Rory right now...

Tough day Friday. Had a chance to make the cut until he tripled 11.

Still, he qualified for both The Open and The US Open. I think he's the first amateur to do so.

Look forward to seeing him play Royal Liverpool in about 6 weeks as part of the Walker Cup team!

Could have been worse. David Duval shot a 91 on the first round, including a 14-stroke hole that included a two stroke penalty for playing the wrong ball and two other penalties for lost balls.

For some reason, it sounds like his head was not in the game.
