Quote:Stanford Stadium experienced a major audio upgrade this past off season, with the newly installed Meyer Sound system. The 174 state of the art speakers with over 2,300 individual speaker cones create an incredibly balanced, clear, and precise audio solution. The extraordinary pattern control avoids problems often encountered in large stadium sound systems and creates a level experience for all fans regardless of location in the stadium or volume of crowd noise.

Sounds good. The only downside if this system is the CAL speakers. Did they have to name them that? :>=)

Does that mean it stops announcing first downs by the 3rd quarter?

Hallelujah. Now hopefully they don't feel the need to blast the dumb hype music at jet-engine decibel levels.

Unfortunately, I fear the opposite. They probably think that better sound quality will be the ticket to the fans accepting/liking the hype music. I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if this was the reasoning behind the improvement. Hype music isn't hype music unless it is blasted to era-splitting levels. Now, possibly the sound system won't be over-driven and clip, but it could still be at jet-engine dB.

I'll wait and listen before I say hallelujah. The old sound system was usually very good at my seat, except for a few games (usually at the start of a season) where something was wrong and it was terrible.
I don't see why they'd play the stupid hype music at a lower volume because of a better sound system. Actually I worry that whoever is at the volume control will see a better sound system as an opportunity to play everything louder.

Just once, just one more time, I would like to hear the voice of Hal Mickelson coming through those speakers.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen" . . . .

I got the impression that it was so loud because it was hard to hear in certain spots, so if the overall levels are more even they could be lower in the problematic areas. This seems like something that everyone was harping on in their end-of-season surveys, so I'm hopeful that they've listened. We'll see...

Not a chance. I can't think of a single sports stadium that added a new sound system that then lowered the dBs in the stadium.
The top end pro stadiums blast sound that puts a lot of city dance clubs to shame. Luckily for everyone unhappy with the dB levels humanity developed a solution...earplugs.
For those that thought the older sound system was too much, I would suggest carrying a few earplugs to the first game. Lots of earplugs are small, lightweight and pretty effective.
Maybe the AD will BLAST the music on the shady side and in the concourse areas in an attempt to force more people to flee into the seats on the sunny side.

I'm trying to think of a dumber idea than needing to wear STM credentials around your neck to get into the STM-only gates and......I can't.

In order of hatred:
- loud canned music at S Stadium
- Hitter’s walkup music before an at bat
- Noise level at Levi Stadium
- Lanyards
Thankfully:
- Indy Car ear plugs
- Recliner in living room

Running Scarlett up the middle on 3rd/4th and 1 while not picking up the edge rusher.

seems like the ticket itself could indicate STM status

Running Scarlet off tackle while not blocking the edge rusher?

My ticket says season ticket holder gate access

so does mine, I'm guessing that the plastic pass will be required for entry before kick-off so resold tickets can't use the STM gates

It does and has but for some reason now it says you need the lanyard.

Well, I don't want to wear a lanyard. I'm going to put the season ticket holder cards in my pocket and I'll use them if I need them.

And why shouldn’t a resold ticket be able to use the STM gate? It’s not as if the number of people eligible to get through will change.
I sure hope that is not the logic, wow.
Those silly lanyards are literally one more loose end to tie down before each game.
